    Bloor-Yorkville Scene

Drove by the old Floriane location on Avenue Rd. and there were new signs in the window but I didn't get a good look. It seemed to say something like "Monalisa" but I have no idea what that is. Is someone down there today to check it out?

I didn't, but I can only assume that if D&G does open on Bloor, it would be that.

Actually, what it said was that the reason Bloor's lease rates increased was because of new leases signed by an expanded LV, D&G and Tiffany's. This was directly from the Colliers report, not the reporter who referenced it in newspapers. Here's the link again to the Colliers report...

I'm only convinced because of that Colliers report. I don't necessarily think we would have heard something. There hasn't really been any public mention of Brooks Brothers either but that's still happening.

For the first time since the lease sign went up, it looked like there was some activity in the old MAC spot...a ladder at the window with some other small stuff in the back. Maybe it's been there all along and I haven't noticed but it looks like it might finally be leased. Also, the building...

So the new Four Seasons opened today. Who's going to be the first to find out who the new retailers will be?

Is the GAP simply to become Gap Kids and Baby Gap? That's what appears to be happening with the scaffolding. Or are Gap Kids and Baby GAP being added on the upper floors? Tiffany's really isn't moving until late next year so I think that will be leased sooner than later. Does your insider...

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Neat. It reminds me of some of the Gallerias you see in Turkey, and the UAE. The GTA definitely has the critical mass to support multiple, large, luxury malls, neighbourhoods, and gallerias like this.

Possibly, but I don't think they would make that kind of mistake. If GAP Kids is moving then the old GAP Kids could very well be a D&G. I couldn't get any confirmation on who leased the old MAC spot. I had heard either TUMI or Longchamp, but since TUMI is opening in Sherway, they may not open...

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

I doubt very much that retailers in Yorkville are trying to cater to the influx of 30 somethings moving into the core and living in 400 sq. ft. condos, so I would agree with you on that point. Bloor/Yorkville's appeal is to the small percentage of people who buy thousands of dollars of stuff at...

Again, or D&G - Colliers did say they signed a lease on Bloor.

Yah, great news! Just saw it as well on Retail-Insider. Sherway is definitely giving Yorkdale a run for its money, and with a new announcement coming tomorrow, it may just be Sherway that launches a bunch of first-to-market brands...which its been doing anyway.

Doh, you beat me to it. Good for Sherway. I'm guessing Longchamp for the French luxury goods retailer. It's true Retail Insider has been a wealth of information lately.

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

My understanding was that this was a month-to-month lease anyway and that was indeed somewhat temporary. I've heard that PUMA will be taking over the space as they are beginning an expansion back into the GTA. They never really should have been on Bloor in the first place so this location...

    Nordstrom

The Yonge and Bloor location is in talks to bring Bloomingdales to it. I doubt very much Nordstrom and Bloomingdales would be sharing the same space.
