    Toronto Parks

Just my quick two cents....... I live in the east end, so I'll comment on those parks first.... Best: Withrow, I grew up right across the street, but thats not blurring my vision, the playgrounds, the tree canopy, the gardens, the rink all make this park one of the best. I would like to...

    Cabbagetown

It's funny so say that. My wife and I were discussing it last night. We live in South Riverdale, and have noticed that it seems like a small aircraft is over head every 5-10 minutes lately. We used to have a roof top deck at our old apt, at Queen/Boulton, and never really noticed the noise, but...

    Toronto-Astral Street Furniture Program

as a graffiti artist for a very long time, I can tell you that when the queen alleys started, specifically in the + junction between portland and augusta, a bunch of artist, myself included, indeed did have permission for the owners of 3 of 4 buildings there and I never touched the 4th building...

Globe: Second NHL Team for Toronto?

The Maple Leafs are named for a WW1 Canadian Fighter Squadron, who had a blue maple leaf in a red circle painted on the tail fin.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I'm pretty sure this building is on the south side of Danforth between Morton and Patricia (east of woodbine).

the Palace, what a shame, to think of the business it could probably do today. I grew up just down the street and it was great having a theatre so close. tryly a great loss to the hood.

Toronto's Neighbourhoods, as defined by The Star

Having grown up just south of Danforth off Carlaw, we all refered to the area as "The Danforth" never called it "Greek town", even the proper name of Riverdale was almost always dropped from the popular vocabulary. All the kids in the nabe, if asked, would've of said "the Danforth" What I find...

    Corktown

    Corktown

"Joan Burt did a nice job with Wilkins, and I'm glad she's finally getting the public recognition she deserves for renovating older homes ( particularly the existing stock of row houses ) in the '60s and '70s - when they were faced with demolition." Could you guys explain a little more? Who...

Bright St., is a true Toronto treasure. I've sketched that street so many times over the last 6 years, it never tires.

"Downtown Core Line" - Possible Alignments?

I was thinking that as well with automatic train control, the 3 track system would work quite well, but I'm not sure the union would let that happen as there membership would take a huge hit. The terminal would be very tricky to build, but not something that is impossible.

"Downtown Core Line" - Possible Alignments?

I'm not going to get into the mess of arguments going on in this thread, but just one idea that hasn't surfaced yet in regards to express tracks, which actually works quite well in New york outside of manhattan (7 train as well as I think the Q line in Brooklyn), skip stop service. Instead of 4...

    Riverdale

There is nothing sketchy about the danforth east of pape, it's not nearly as high end, but you'll be perfectly fine and save a ton on rent too.

    Cabbagetown

"no one said Beach back then, at least to me since people still identified with the separate Beaches of the area, Kew Beach" Do you know how many times I've been corrected by a recent transplant about the terminology used in Beaches V Beach... I agree, the neighbourhood has always been the...

Atheists hope (don't pray) to bring ads to Toronto (G&M)

I think the ad is pretty humorous and engaging. If one side can be displayed no reason why this shouldn't, it's respectful. On the whole religious aspect, I'm an atheist, my parents are atheist but both sets of grandparents as well as most extended family were strict Catholics. I find the...
