    Exodus to the Burbs

I would say a better comparison would be to the extent of which parks are used, downtown vs burbs... We may have smaller parks, but they are better used and much more local. Just last week I was visiting a friend in Ajax, took our kids to the park, they were the only ones there for the 2 hours...

    Toronto Toronto | The Carlaw | ?m | 12s | Streetcar | TACT Architecture

wow that is ummmmmm how to put it gently.... a mish-mash of shit crammed together... I'll reserve final judgement for a better rendering, but so far I'm not digging it...

Why Streetcars Make People Crazy! (Picture)

In my experience the biggest problem with our streetcar net work is that it's too small, if we still had the amount of track we did in the 50's we'd be able to have idle streetcars on lesser used streets, (or small yard like holding pens) it would also make it easier for a route to be re-routed...

To me what makes this tower a success over most other "boxes" is the proportions... absolutely perfect porportions

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I remember going to a place like this with my day camp as a young kid in about 1983-1984, it was a rickety playground made out of wood, etc. by kids... is this the place your referring to? I was trying to see if my brother remembered where it was, I seem to remember it being around the fleet st...

    Cops target squeegee kids

To be fair nobody knows what happened between the two, we don't know that he was just "standing up for himself" and we don't know if the driver was the aggressor either. Arguing about the intent of either is really a moot point.

Death of Clubland (aka: Is Adam Vaughan trying to kill the Club District?)

I've always though of last call to be the catalyst for most of these problems, the clubs all empty out at the same time... if there was no last call, we would have people leaving at different times, not all in one shot

Toronto Can Support more NHL teams

the jays are affordable of you want to sit in the nose bleeds and watch the game on the jumbotron... not so much when you want to be in the lowerdeck.... still cheaper than trying to get good seats at Fenway, Yankee stadium, etc.

    Graffiti

hhhmmmmmm LSD + Summer of love 1967?? graffiti's hay day of full cars in NYC 1972+ Detroit Riots 1967, Watts riots 1968, Newark Riots 1969 Proliferation of pot into mainstrream culture... 1967+ Kent State massacre 1970 Manson Family murders 1970 your right, the world was soooooo much...

Toronto Can Support more NHL teams

Ok fair, Ralph Wilson is THE worst stadium in the NFL, but having been to numerous stadiums in other places, IE; Lambeau, Gilette, old meadowlands and the old VET & Lincoln field in Philly... it's always horrible trying to get out of an NFL game, the only place I didn't find it that bad is the...

Toronto Can Support more NHL teams

You obviously have never been to say, a bills game? crazy traffic at 8am till well after 7pm, for a 1pm game.... Either way it's a terrible reason to rule one or the other out.

    Graffiti

well I have kids, raise them well, set boundaries and rules, etc. etc... you're really starting to sound like many other crusty old farts, who believe every generation that comes after them are worse than their generation... stop waving your angry fist in the air yelling "get of my grass" all...

Toronto Can Support more NHL teams

way to dodge the question Michael Thompson.... so let me see if I get this right.... another NHL team, that draws about 20,000 means traffic and congestion, even though a new team arena could be built at say Downsview close to GO and subway but an NFL club, who's preferred location is beside a...

How far/long do you walk to transit?

    wow I think we're neighbours

    Graffiti

not to change the subject (I've given up on having any sort of logical debate in regards to graffiti on this site) but I'm curious to know whether you have any children or do you always just make blanket assumptions about peoples parenting skills when in actuality you really have no clue?

    Blue Jays broadcasting... Sneaky, sneaky!

Happens in all broadcasts on all networks.... if you watch a lot of NHL hockey they are always showing a night shot while it's still daylight out... Usually the send a guy around for an entire day to shoot scenics then just reuse them all year(s) long.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

To me Hamilton would be Toronto's Newark... got some gem's of buildings and neighbourhoods but was neglected for a few decades.... I guess Scarborough is our Bronx? I think I like the Bronx better.

Ads in the Sky (what next!)

Although I didn't see this example I have noticed a guy in Leslieville sitting in his car with a projector, beaming ads onto the sides of peoples buildings. I was talking to a few people about the legalities of this, as he's not breaking any laws but is still using someone elses property as a...
