    Yorkdale Shopping Centre

Ah good, more stores normal people can't afford. Yorkdale is beautiful, but I rarely go because I can't afford to shop at 50% of the stores. And I'm well above average income.

    Toronto Toronto | Canary House | 50.3m | 13s | Dream | BDP Quadrangle

From what I understand, Dream retains ownership of the commercial spaces in the Canary District. So far, they have done a good job of attracting unique businesses. Except for TD Bank and Fika (a cannabis store), there are no chain shops. I do not anticipate Dream leasing to another bank or...

Now now, let's not be so hasty. At least it preserves the opportunity to tear down the towers in 100 years and rebuild the house.

    Corktown

A sign now says this is becoming the Rosebud Restaurant and Wine Bar. https://www.rosebudto.com/

I will say the cladding colour looks very different depending on the light. These pics were taken at the same time but to me one looks bright orange vs. almost pink. The quality looks good (very minor oil canning) and I think it’s going to be a striking building.

The other side is an entire city block and basically six towers. It doesn’t really surprise me that it’s been slow.

After all these years, I'm so pleased to see this beautiful home didn't burn down "accidentally" and it is being restored / rebuilt as a restaurant. It will be fantastic to visit when it is done.

I may or may not work for the City. There are many areas that are slow or broken, but in this instance I can assure you that Toronto Building / the Chief Building Official are not. Under the Building Code Act, the City has a positive obligation to inspect and enforce. When the City learns of a...

It's in dispute with the developer, even though it's clearly their fault. :)

If I'm not mistaken, this one went to the OMB / OLT and the Tribunal basically prescribed the massing that would be permissible -- namely an angular plane from Church and a tower to the west. Planning can't dictate materials, so it has little control. Blame the developer and architect.

I find the whole façade kind of... busy? Too many columns and articulations. Even those "Bay" windows, which I'd normally be in love with, seem a bit heavy? Still think it's a great project with lovely details.

    Shabby Public Realm

Totally, this can be done. I do some of my own gardening on City property, for example. But realistically, volunteers can only do so much -- run a garbage pickup day or plant a garden -- but asking private citizens to spend their time and money to do routine maintenance is unfair. I also only...

    Shabby Public Realm

I regularly report to 311 (and will continue to do so), but it is exhausting to have to request what should be basic maintenance. For more than a year I had to campaign to have trees replaced on Front Street East that have been dead for over three seasons. How was this not done in that time...

Guaranteed a significant portion of this will turn to residential. I think the City is in for a big change in terms of how it plans for commercial space -- dropping replacement requirements, etc.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

I wasn't defending anything, for the record.

I think s/he means the "Z" symbol used by Russia's military: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z_(military_symbol) However, I'm not prepared to cede our precious letter Zed quite so easily.
  17. Dr. Snoot

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

I'm pretty sure s/he means condos, offices, and building services, such as loading or garbage disposal. Many can only be accessed via King Street and there is no viable alternative. Also, people paid $100K for their underground parking spots. So, you do have to maintain some car access. Perhaps...

It's wild how baby boomers hoarded all the wealth for themselves :p ... but it does look nice.

    Toronto Toronto | West Don Lands: Blocks 17 & 26 | 141m | 43s | Aspen Ridge | Core Architects

In terms of massing, the developer made clear at a recent meeting that they are building to the MZO and the siting is not open to change, so I think we're stuck. Blame the province for using authoritarian tools to cram entirely too much density onto this site, which has limited opportunities for...
