That's interesting to know, but why is the 157m limit still being obeyed when a few developments in the area (most notably Mirvish & Ghery) have already far exceeded it?

Certainly there is something you can do about it. NIMBYs do have a voice in this city. The point is not whether you can do something, but whether you should. My argument is that at Bloor & Dufferin, you shouldn't.

I actually live around Old Mill/Royal York, so I walk through those neighborhoods every day, and yes, I'm telling you I think 40 stories would be just fine. Mind you, we're only talking about near the subway line where the infrastructure exists to support it. "Out of context" is not a valid...

Can you explain what would be so terrible about 40 stories at Old Mill, Jane, or Runnymede? I honestly don't see anything wrong with that.

    Toronto Toronto | Eau du Soleil Condos | 227.98m | 66s | Empire | Richmond Architects

From a few days ago. The name "Eau du Soleil" never seemed more fitting (right side of the sunset).

Are those maple leaves actually part of the design? I assumed it was just a gimmick in the renderings where the residents happen to light up their units in a maple leaf pattern. That's what it looks like since some of the renderings don't seem to have any maple leaves.

    Toronto Toronto | The Residences of 488 University Avenue | 206.95m | 55s | Amexon | Core Architects

Oh, I thought it was 18 office + 37 residential. Have they actually added 2 floors to the original building so the final result will be 20 office + 35 residential?

I counted 28 stories of residential which would mean 9 to go.

I sure hope 299m is not the final height as that would make four buildings in Toronto within just 2m of being supertall (YSL, FCP, CC3, sugar wharf). Basically a kick in the nuts for skyscraper enthusiasts.

Toronto Toronto | The Bentway (was Under Gardiner) | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Looks great. Hopefully this will teach city planners that a bit of shadow doesn't ruin a park.

    Toronto Toronto | The Pemberton | 215.79m | 68s | Pemberton | a—A

Ok my bad, I assumed demolition meant construction was soon to follow. I didn't realize there are still more approvals needed.

So we now have 33 Yorkville, 1 Yorkville, 8 Cumberland, and The One all within a block and all going up at the same time. Amazing how fast this area is growing!

    Toronto Toronto | Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

I'm also very saddened to see the original proposal die, but I'm trying to look on the positive side. The new proposal is still pretty tall and elegant by Toronto standards, and at least the project is finally moving forward. I mean, a decent design with zoning approval is better than an...

    Toronto Toronto | 191 Bay | 301.74m | 64s | QuadReal | Hariri Pontarini

I thought this building had to be capped to 298m due to shadowing on St. James Park? My understanding is that the developers would build taller if they could, not shorter.

    Toronto Toronto | Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

This was one of the most exciting projects in the city for both its height and beauty. Now it has neither. What a disappointment.
