    Markham Toronto | GTA Centre | ?m | ?s | GTA S. and E. | BBB

This all seems like an insane ploy to put Markham on the map. Perhaps when people come to their senses, the arena will be 5000 person capacity, suitable for an OHL team. As much as I would love to see another NHL team in the GTA, I don't think this is going to go as planned.

Nope. First of all it isn't finished. Secondly, look at the rendering again. The columns at random angles do not wrap around the entire mechanical portion. There are still 90deg vertical columns on the sides of the building.

Petronas towers have globes on their spires, so does Taipei 101. Trump gets a wheel. Big deal. Paint it green and be done with it.

Hume: Are Toronto condo towers slums in the making?

Have you ever been to MCC? There is a freakin' huge shopping centre, two GO stations, a bus terminal and a number of schools, college and parks in the area. If those aren't amenities, I don't know what are.

Same thing that happens when there is a garbage strike.

Why does Toronto always dominate the best cities list???

We are in the Globalization era. Toronto's culture reflects that.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

You are right that their "complete lack empathy or remorse, false emotions, selfishness and deceptiveness" is required for their job, but their racial background has nothing to do with it. These traits aren't specific to Greeks. You are just describing a coincidence.

^^^ From the Toronto Star article: Well, take the subway you idiot.

    Toronto, Capital of North America?

Ok, well, it is even better then for Ontario to invest in solar tech!

It is an interesting park. Curiously, I don't see any park benches. It will be interesting to see how well the grass will grow. There are so many criss-crossing sidewalks, I wonder how many people will stay on the paths, or create their own!

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Seriously, did anyone ever believe the private sector would pay for a subway? All the private sector is good for is taking government handouts.

  13. E

    Toronto, Capital of North America?

Why should Ontario miss the boat on green tech though? For example, while solar may not be a good option here, it is in places like California. So why not manufacture solar panels here, perfect the technology and export? Why not innovate instead of being a branch plant province? Oh, you can...

    Toronto, Capital of North America?

Re: Government Subsidies on "green tech" Government provides subsidies for farming, fishing, automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, mining, nuclear industries, etc etc, or whatever sector of industry that has a good lobby group. So why get in a huff about green tech?

Can there be a moratorium on the "bottle cap" talk? The buildings aren't finished. The cladding on the ground floor is not even complete!

    Toronto, Capital of North America?

Real estate prices are market driven. If the overall market is up, everyone will price accordingly. Also one can't stop a person from being stupid with their money. There are a lot of properties that are overpriced, and people buying into the fix and flip hype. I agree, there are a lot of...

    Toronto, Capital of North America?

I don't think so. Housing costs in the suburbs are high as well, with their scant mass transit. The high housing prices in Toronto is more a function of wealthy foreign investors deciding to park their money in Toronto real estate as it is a safe investment at this time.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Didn't David Miller and Mel Lastman have a TV call-in show on CityTV? Who wants to start a pool: How many weeks / days / hours will one of the Fords blows a fuse and the whole show is axed?

    Wal-Mart downtown Toronto?

We just need to realize this:

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Not to surreal, I think there is a percentage of the population that agrees with Rob Ford's world view but are too afraid to publicly say so, for fear of alienating their co-workers, neighbours etc. Voting for Rob Ford is their outlet.
