GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD. How could I possibly continue to read this forum without the insights of one of history's greatest thinkers, Whattagameup?!?!

    Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers looked and played like a team that was saddled by illness, injury, or both.

    Edmonton Oilers

Splitting up Nurse-Ceci and limiting their minutes seems to have been a wise choice. However, if I were Knoblauch I would be thinking strongly of playing Stecher in place of Ceci. The gaffes and poor reads are getting too difficult to ignore.

Do you have any reason to believe that City Centre Mall is considering building new towers of some sort?

Looking in and seeing people doing bike stunts (or whatever) while walking by on the street would be pretty cool, ngl.

I hate the thought of seeing The Common/9910/Dolly's bulldozed for redevelopment.

I would think no? At least in the North American context, suburbs have outpaced urban areas in terms of growth in the past several decades by a wide margin. (Pew, TD, Smart Prosperity) There's nothing particularly "weird" about what the Edmonton development industry is doing.

A developer saying "Keep Edmonton Weird" while championing soulless suburban auto-centric development is one of the most laughable things I've read in a long time, and I've seen some howlers from the property development industry.

Will be sad to see Andy's IGA shut down. :(

A great point. Compare the cleanliness of the Mercury Block with the visual mess that is 121 West.

    Municipal Politics

Note that they're still not backing down (it seems) on forcing municipalities to hand count ballots at their own expense rather than use tabulators, as well as forcing political parties on Edmonton and Calgary. Gotta keep feeding that red meat to David Parker, I guess.

The inner courtyard, the archway at the entrance, and even the somewhat unusual choice of color (black) are all pretty striking features to me.

Danielle Smith explicitly promised that she would "invest in low income transit passes" when she was trying desperately to get elected. Why wouldn't the province's major population centres take her at her word? Would she prefer that we treat her like the liar that she is, going forward?

Oof, as dataviz goes, that's a bit of a mess to read.

Even Keith Gerein is seeing the pattern:
