I know this is quite crude, but all I have is google Earth, so it's the best I can do. Using the outlines of the Oxford Towers (which I posted earlier), I traced the outline of the towers from the vantage point of the CN Tower onto the city itself to find which areas would be irrevocably blocked...

I'm probably isolated in the opinion that the towers would actually improve the view from the CN Tower rather than spoil it. The Oxford Buildings will only block views of some of the old bank towers, which in my opinion are far less interesting to look at than the Islands or the low rise region...

Actually I would. These two towers are far more interesting and beautiful than anything in the financial district.

Exactly. The owners of the CN Tower have no more rights than anyone else. You can't try to prevent the construction of a new building simply because it will block the view from your apartement. Anyways, if it is built the CN Tower and Oxford Towers could create a new edge walk! Now THAT would...

I really hope the twin towers are not shrunk. Toronto is really due for some supertalls. I can't think of any reason why the city would shrink the buildings, but they always come up with some reason every time something new and innovative comes along... Is this really that bad? Your view of a...

    Toronto Toronto | 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

For what reasons for shrinking it do you think they might have, beyond the fact that it will block about 1/20th of the view from the CN tower? Oh, the horror!

Has the city mentioned anything about shrinking the Oxford Twin Towers? I heard they just removed the casino.

That's fantastic! Toronto's new tallest building will be amazing! It's going to take an incredibly long time to build though...

    Toronto Toronto | 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

The Oxford Place Twin towers might actually cause a problem for visitors to the CN Tower (though they would be just as cool to look at as the cityscape beyond in my opinion). 156 Front W is over 60m shorter and sufficiently far away from the tower as the not effect views to much. Anyway, in...

I'm sorry, I'm really confused about this project. Has the whole thing been scrapped, or just the casino and hotel component? Does the city want to shrink the twin towers like they do for every proposal?

    Toronto Toronto | 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

Apparently a number of UT forum posts just got deleted because of a glitch. When I first saw the AS+GG proposal, I always wondered what would happen if the residential component from the original design had been incorporated into this building. Using the magic of photoshop, the formal manatee...

What happened with those posts? It's very confusing. Wonderful photo BTW.

Actually, when I was on the tour, a lot of the engineers present were commenting on the not-so-smart decision to put electrical plugs inside the columns. They hold the building up! You don't want to weaken them with unnecessary incisions and gaps.

    Toronto Toronto | Theatre Park | 156.96m | 47s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

I'm sorry, I have to call you out on that. This building is not very slender. THIS building is slender, and it was approved in NYC without any concerns over "inappropriate massing", as what happened with 24 Mercer: http://newyorkyimby.com/2013/09/revealed-111-west-57th-street.html I...

    Toronto Toronto | One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

This talk about 1 Bloor West is quite a bit of speculation. How can you guess how tall it will be when no one has even announced anything? Is there any info at all about that site?

Now we have the Formal Manatee (156 Front W has a bow tie!), the pile of cold cuts (M+G), the chest of drawers (River City 3), the Ice Cube (Berkeley Field House) and the Machete (L Tower).

If they are able to secure a lead tenant so quickly, would (and could) CF add more floors? It wouldn't take much to see this beauty pass the 300 meter mark.

    Toronto Toronto | L-Tower | 204.82m | 58s | Cityzen | Daniel Libeskind

Today I went on a tour of the marvellous L Tower run by the Canadian chapter of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. Over two hours, we visited the 1st, 4th, 56th, and 57th floors of the 58 storey tower. I was shocked to learn that a Toronto born entrepreneur has purchased the ENTIRE...

Gehry Technologies (the architect's formerly personal design software) should have been called "Gehry's Mod". I felt I just had to get that out there, sorry.
