This thing is shooting up! The criss-crossing elements on the sides look great too!

The rooftop scaffolding is wild! Taken from the Design Exchange

Indeed. Were are now getting a beautiful and architecturally interesting condo instead of a restaurant serving garbage.

The tone of the article comments are quite funny. Bloor is one of the best streets in the city for dining (in all price ranges), and the students of U of T are dismayed at the loss of a McDonalds. http://thevarsity.ca/2013/01/14/bloor-mcdonalds-location-shuttered/

    Toronto Toronto | Living Shangri-La Toronto | 214.57m | 66s | Westbank | James Cheng

In February 2013, I visited Shangri-La during the sales of the last few units in the building. I managed to take a few iPhone panoramas and other pictures of what a furnished unit in this building actually looks like. They're quite nice, my only complaint is that the VERY low ceiling height...

    Toronto Toronto | 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

Just to clarify… The original renderings show two towers (office and residential) of roughly equal height. Has that plan been scrapped in favour of this new, single tower proposal?

    Toronto Toronto | 160 Front West | 239.87m | 46s | Cadillac Fairview | AS + GG

Unlike M+G I must concede, this project does not violate the neighbourhood height limit, and respects the site's heritage building. I don't see any reason for the design review board to butcher this. Hope fully an out-of-the-box (literally!) office tower designed by the architect of a...

You know you're a skyscraper geek when your first reaction to a municipal design update is to run around your room screaming. Adrian Smith is a god. Let's just hope that the city doesn't ruin this project.

    Toronto Toronto | Residences at the RCMI Condos | 134.72m | 42s | Tribute | Zeidler

What is the base to height ratio for the East-West side? Could this be considered a sliver building?

Exactly, you have just refuted the city's unreasonable assumptions about the height of the project.

...if the project was architecturally uninteresting and provided no public spaces and institiutions.

They are more worried about size than "calibre". But I agree, it is quite parochial to refuse this project.

    Toronto Toronto | Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

The height issue is less about the actual height of this project, but the precedent it will set for the neighbourhood. When the festival tower was built in 2010, it broke the height limits for the King West neighbourhood, but the developer maintained that the condominium was needed to pay for...

    Toronto Toronto | One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

Those are good points and I agree with you, but if I were to live in this building, I'd prefer my unit to be higher up on account of the noise at one of Toronto's busiest intersections.

    Toronto Toronto | River City Condos Phase 3 | 99.66m | 29s | Urban Capital | Saucier + Perrotte

I really do think this is one of the VERY few project in Toronto where the developer can honestly use "Extreme Architecture" as their slogan. I can't wait to see this building go up!

One thing I always found interesting about Toronto's condos, but especially the larger ones like this, is how amazingly few elevators they have. According to the floor plans, this building will have 6 elevators to access 789 residential units, or one elevator for every 131 units. For residents...

Those sky lobbies are very interesting! I really like this! It works reasonably well with restaurant row. Reminds me a bit of a project by REX: http://www.archdaily.com/466553/rex-proposes-retractable-facade-for-equator-tower-in-malaysia/

While agricultural land may not be very biologically diverse compared to unmolested woodland, it has more vegetation than a similar-sized suburb covered with asphalt and manicured grass. <chills> I certianly hope you don't agree with the post...

I found it on the m+g Facebook page, and they said it was new, so I'll just take their word for it.
