  1. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Here it is at 11-ish this morning.
  2. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

There was a soppy piece on CP24 talking about a "growing memorial" at Douglas B. Ford Park, so soppy that they actually played sad music over this poignant scene of Diane and Randy stopping by to view this overwhelming display of affection. That was the third take, filmed sometime this...
  3. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Everything you list there is what Toronto has always meant to me. Rob may have loved Etobicoke, but that had nothing to do with the physical and metaphorical core of the megacity.

Council meets next week. The policy-and-procedures wonk in me is already looking forward to seeing how they choose to recognize Ford's passing and fill his vacant seat. What I am not looking forward to is sitting through a bunch of self-serving speeches praising the man.

It's a joke, and quite a clever one at that. Council isn't in session, but if it were, I can imagine Rob and Doug voting against it as they did against so many other attempts to do some good.

Towhey's book made it sound like Rob had pretty much reached the point where he was living from hand to mouth . . . and so, I fear Renata and Rob's children will be dependent on Diane's (and eventually Doug's) largesse for the foreseeable future.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

If there's any truth to the rumours that the Fords have been footing Lisi's legal bills, then that will stop on the day Rob dies.

Doug told the Star today, “I have been at the hospital for the last five days and nights by his side." And yet the Sun said on Sunday: "Ford’s brothers, Randy and former city councillor Doug, were regular visitors at the hospital over the weekend." So, even at the very end, Doug just can't...
  9. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Doug often hid behind the spectre of threats against his dear, delicate daughters . . . imagine my surprise when I learned most if not all of them were in their 20s and at least one of them looked entirely capable of breaking a man in two.
  10. Roy's Square

They had all the privacy they needed until the moment Doug blew back into town and started talking about those stupid mice and that maudlin website to any and every media outlet that would listen.

They could use those cinder blocks that Daniel Dale infamously DID NOT stack on top of each other to peak at Ford's children.
  12. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

A friend of a friend claims that she has heard from multiple sources that Ford is now also suffering from radiation cystitis.
  13. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

When I go, I too hope to die surrounded by my friends, my family . . . and a reliable source!
  14. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

The point of press releases, Dan, is to give you the time you need to craft things carefully so that they cannot be misunderstood. "With his family beside him . . . in hospital . . . asks for privacy during this difficult time . . . " These clichés really don't leave you much wiggle room...

On the contrary, Cllr. John Fillion claims Doug is a surprisingly good lunch companion.
  16. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

You flatter Doug if you think he invented that shit. It's probably been around since there have been politicians, and before that, kings.

As pall bearers, shurely they'd risk becoming disabled youth.
  18. Roy's Square

The CTV piece says: "State funerals are planned by the government in consultation with the family . . ." thus ending any chance of this getting past the Office of Protocol without a fist fight.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Tory—if he has any political sense at all—will allow Rob to lie in state at City Hall, but the main event will be in Etobicoke. I doubt a federal event is even on the table, since he was never elected to federal office.
  20. Roy's Square

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Don't forget this! http://www.conservativefutures.ca/ Saturday, March 19, 2016 in Barrie, Ontario. Now at least he has something more substantial to talk about than his regular spiel about the Rotary club and his father's sticker factory, and all it took was a small donation to Mount...
