    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I'm pretty sure it would be if Via with HFR is going to stop at Toronto Union station. The only alternatives to this stretch of track are a new tunnel or the CP mainline through Summerhill. Via with HFR is not going to run down the Richmond Hill GO line.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

The city council passed a hotel tax and a DVP toll that the province then stepped in and blocked.

Ford Gov't Selling Naming Rights for GO Stations

Ah, yes. I look forward to a GO Train stopping at You Just Proved Station Sponsorships Work By Hearing The Station Name Old Cummer GO Station.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Not to be too credulous, but what are the chances Premier Doug I-don't-care-about-public-opinion-the-boos-mean-they-love-me Ford will expopriate all the backyards along this abandoned rail corridor and stick an elevated in it? I'm trying very hard to not misunderestimate.

He's a swindler. Also check the capacity on his tech. They're aiming for 16 passengers every 30 seconds. Toronto subway does 2000 passengers every 2 minutes, or 500 every 30 seconds.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Middle of the road is safer for pedestrians. Assuming a 5 min frequency, a street median LRT creates a safety refuge the length of the street for pedestrians to cross mid-block.

TTC: Cherry Street reconstruction and streetcar trackage (City of Toronto/TTC, U/C)

They also need to disrupt GO service for a few years to extend Church St south at some point as part of the Lower Yonge Precinct plan.

    Beltline Trail

It's something Evergreen Brickworks is lobbying for under the name Don River Valley Park. See pages 22-23 of this pdf for the relevant brainstorming.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

My guess is that the new multi-use path level crossing counts as part of the existing Pottery Road level crossing as far as Metrolinx is concerned.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

They will definitely realign the Trans-Canada trail to follow it. The Trans-Canada follows the PanAm Path now, and the PanAm Path was supposed to incorporate the East Don Trail until they cheaped out. The connection between the Don Trail and Gatineau Trail sections is not very good now...

    Dufferin Street: Eliminating the jog

Is that a suicide barrier? It seems a little unnecessary given the low height of the bridge.

    Rail Deck Park (?, ?, ?)

They put in some missing links in the Humber trail as well as along Queen's Quay and in Scarborough. I'm not sure whether the Eglinton side of the road trail was part of it, but it may have been. Some necessary things that were planned for it still haven't been built, like a proper connection...

Plans to fill in Allen Road

While we're posting proposals, here's mine. The only problem the Allen solves is the lack of a 401 interchange at Bathurst. In all other ways, it is a road to nowhere. My proposal to remove the Allen is as follows: 1. Put in a proper 401 interchange at Bathurst 2. Link Dufferin to Dufferin 3...

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Perhaps I'm overestimating the extent of a probable King Transit Mall, but Richmond-Adelaide aren't useful east of Parliament or west of Bathurst/Strachan. King extends to River and to Roncesvalles.

    Scarborough-Malvern LRT

So, what yard will Scarborough-Malvern LRT use to store its vehicles? I think the original plan was to use Sheppard LRT's yard which is in a different budget punted far into the future. Deadheading all the vehicles to and from Eglinton LRT's yard seems inefficient. However, I expect there to...

New Traffic Calming Measure - Impossibly Narrow Streets

General cycling issues (Is Toronto bike friendly?)

Vulnerable is a more accurate description than dangerous, I think. Alternate approach to stop fatal bike-car crashes: Ban driving on major roads.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

A smell test is also known as a sniff test, smoke test, or sanity check. It's an informal check to verify that nothing glaringly obvious was missed during the latest set of changes.

Plans to fill in Allen Road

In addition to the usual crimes of expressways -- wasting large amounts of space, cutting communities in half -- the Allen fails at its core function. Specifically: - The Allen fails at connecting Bathurst and the 401. - The Allen fails at connecting north and south Dufferin. I think that...
