Whoa, Urbandreamer a 50% reduction by your estimates! I can see certain areas outside the downtown core, like King/Bathurst going for 300psf, but not Yonge/Bloor.

    Toronto Toronto | Casa | 147.52m | 46s | Cresford | a—A

I was somewhat surprised when I first saw it, given that CASA is not even halfway up yet, but it is clearly visible from the Yonge/Bloor intersection and a very astute move to take advantage of the cleared lot that will be 1 BE. I expect that the sales office will get at least a few inquiries...

You're right - the building will be amazing regardless - but we were (verbally) promised 5 ft

Is it just me, or do the balconies, once the windows are factored in, look to be less than 5 feet wide?

Very funny! I guess when the digging is finished and the crane installed, someone might say the intitially low height of the crane is an indication that only a parking garage is being built:p Seriously folks, the Ellis Don staff on site have said that excavation for 1BE is due to begin later...

Apparently, installation of windows will begin sometime next week :)

CASAGUY, in the 'Siena' pics, I notice TWO balconies with that ultra-bright white painted. Last week, I was told by an onsite worker that Casa management thought it was too bright, but if so, why are they testing it on a second balcony?

    Toronto Toronto | CrystalBlu Condos | ?m | 36s | Bazis | Burka

Not necessarily...I've seen the logo of the developer i.e. CONTEXT, TRIDEL, etc. on cranes in the past.

I have to agree with OW. People seem to be spiteful for the sake of being spiteful. Is it perhaps because there is resentment or jealousy in the fact that a relatively unknown builder (in this city) has successfully marketed a development that includes condos priced at more than 800 psf? The...

Well, it looks like the under-the-balcony paint is being tested on the NW corner of the 7th floor. Not sure if I like the hot WHITE colour - it creates too strong a contrast between that and the black-ish brick. An off-white or charcoal grey might look better:cool:

    Toronto Toronto | Ryerson's Mattamy Athletics Centre + Loblaws at the Gardens | ?m | ?s | Ryerson University | Turner Fleischer

It's a travesty that this art deco landmark from the '30's, home to the most famous Canadian sports franchise for more than half a century, has been sitting empty for a decade! It is also very telling about the lack of respect we pay to history, architecture, and culture in this city, and...

Wasn't including Mexico in North America, LOL, but in that case, Mexico City is the largest.

Yes, there are other worthy projects in the area: Uptown, CASA, X, Four Seasons, Crystal Blu, U, Milan, Couture, Museum House, etc, etc, and guess what: They're all starting at 600 PSF minimum. So, it shouldn't surprise, anyone that the "cliche" location at the crossroads of the two subway...

LOL...the agent did say there would be an announcement by mid-August. She was off with the timing, but my hunch is she was right about the pending hotel announcement with a European brand being the tenant. Since a hotel was part of the plan in the first place, and since all indicators are that...

1 Bloor East, DEAD AND BURIED (Bazis, -2s, Varacalli)

I believe the first week in October will be when we find out which European hotel chain will occupy the first 16 floors, and excavation permits will be issued shortly thereafter (if not before). Therefore, I believe excavation will begin by early December. Bazis has moved quickly on 'Crystal...

    Toronto Toronto | Casa | 147.52m | 46s | Cresford | a—A

If you want to see an example of a 3.5 foot-wide balcony, go down to Carlton and Yonge and look up at The Met, or further up along Bay Street and look at Murano's balconies. That's roughly what they would look like, and judging from where Casa's columns end, 5 feet seems about right.

    Toronto Toronto | Rezen Condos | ?m | 13s | Times Group | Robert Chang

Kennyx, I think they meant to stick to that part of the East side of town, not necessarilty the building. Don't know how much they want, but you can do better. An obstructed view isn't the end of the world, but a nicer view can be an important aspect of condo living. Why settle for less? If...

Casaguy, this thing is moving fast now - already done the 8th floor! But I agree, the floors look wafer thin...they know what they're doing, don't they?:p
  19. A

1 Bloor East, DEAD AND BURIED (Bazis, -2s, Varacalli)

I'm usually skeptical about things, but in this case, with so much at stake and having had an aggressive developer with deep pockets already make so many commitments to the site, and with the city anxious to re-develop the Bloor St. corridor, AND a site that has already been pre-approved for a...

Speaking of drawings, I recently had my meeting for a 'Foglia' and now realize now that the sliding glass doors for the bedrooms are planned for the outside of the bedrooms...this would pose a problem if you wanted to hang a tv on the wall facing the living room, and is different from the way it...
