    Smitherman's Transit plan

That's less of a simplification then a plain ridiculous statement. You must not have ever been to New York or Boston or Chicago or etc tc. Obviously there's plenty of horrible planning and sprawl in the States, more than most countries, but you can't just throw out the good with the bad.

Candidates and their subway plans... The Star tells you which one is more credible

But what about Ford's past behaviour makes you think he'll just let them make a new plan, and then be able to get funding for it and execute it? All he seems to be able to do is criticize other people's ideas. I have seen absolutely NO leadership qualities.

My Masters Projects on the Downtown Relief Line

It's easy for you to propose but it doesn't matter whether it's good planning or not, no government will EVER fund a quad track DRL. The chances of getting even a Danforth to University double track section look pretty slim right now.

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Making a long ark might help if there's a flood but I don't see what it does for the Sheppard line. :p

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Haven't heard anything about that.... would have to be a pretty major event to delay it by 2 years.

In terms of actual construction, has anyone seen any digging going on for the launch boxes?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Not if it's just commuting to work I don't think.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I got my card yesterday and I was just as confused... and I consider myself pretty competent when it comes to these sorts of things. They could definitely do a better job of explaining what you have to do in the mail package - and more helpful error messages on the website.

    DVP...Bus-only lane pitched

These are the requirements for buses using the lanes: Maybe they're thinking of safety but I would be pretty annoyed if I was on a bus and it could only go 40 km/h because car traffic was going 20.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

There's a new public consultation website for the streetcars - http://lrv.ttc.ca/default.aspx They're soliciting submissions for the outside wrap and the inside color scheme, to be reviewed by a design panel.

    Toronto | 1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

It's gotta be a bit faster than that. This report has delivery of all 60 trainsets ending in December 2013. 60 / 36 = about one every 18 days.

    TTC moving headquarters

I agree, I detest this sort of posturing from politicians. "People have been complaining about the TTC lately... maybe I'll take a shot at it and score some points!"... no actual consideration or knowledge of the issue.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Where did you get those CDL? Do you have schedules for the rest of the system?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Has anyone seen Presto readers on the other Lakeshore West line stations yet? It's supposed to be "Spring 2010" for the full line...

    Toronto | 1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

No surprise - the TTC's going to authorize an additional order of 21 new TR trainsets to replace the H6 trains, and 10 new TRs for the Spadina extension... on top of the 39 train base order. The trains for the Spadina extension are *supposed* to be delivered in 2013... so presumably they'll have...

    Toronto | 1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

You mean more than we already have? Right now they just move to the next car after each stop... I can't imagine we'll see a huge rush just cause it's easier to move in between cars.

Star: Would a bridge at Dundas and Spadina save lives?

This seems ridiculous... if it's 7.5 m high noone's going to want to climb it anyway and they'll just cross the street the normal way, the cars won't be looking for them and we'll get more accidents.
  18. S

    Toronto | 1233 Queen East | ?m | 8s

Well it was Bombardier that set the price... hopefully there were some sort of completion date clauses in the contract so the TTC is getting compensation. The TTC's not going to pay them extra just cause the price is low.

    Toronto Toronto | Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

I think construction is scheduled to take 3 or 4 years... the space limitations and coordinating with the main station renovation will really slow it down.
