    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I dunno if this was known before, but seems like the TTC just realized they'd lose out on a lot of money by not implementing PRESTO: Since Transit City is being funded entirely by the province IIRC, then the TTC basically has no choice but to put PRESTO on the whole system.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Looks like GO is preparing to buy the portion of the Lakeshore West corridor in Toronto - there's a tender for a market value estimate on their website for the Yonge St to 29th St segment (almost to Long Branch).

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

In actual news, the TTC is recommending adoption of PRESTO, subject to conditions. Haven't had time to read this to see if there's anything of substance in it.

That would be quite the tunnel... it's over 1000 km ;)

'Road trains' get ready to roll

Who would pay for this professional driver? Sounds a bit ridiculous overall..

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Well I think when they fully roll out the system you will be able to put a monthly pass on the card - getting rid of them would be lunacy.

Bloor Station - New Crowd Control Measures

What I wanna know is why did they suddenly realise there's a bottleneck at Bloor? Not like this is a recent occurrence.. and they're definitely not using some fancy new technology. Stanchions....

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

GO is certainly on the right track... no pun intended... but keep in mind the improvements they're making are a lot cheaper than some of the TTC's options - ATO, new subway trains, DLR, etc. Obviously projects like electrification and the GSSE are in the 100's of millions or billions of $ but we...

Sharon Yetman's Subway Safety Plan (Better barrier for subways 'an obsession')

You're certainly passionate but I think you're being pretty self-centered calling yourself "the inventor of "separated passenger flow" for single sided platforms" - it's not exactly rocket science to get people to move down the platform to even out the loads. Certainly doesn't look great for...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Wishful thinking... The rail expansion to Kitchener includes a Guelph station, and the environmental assessment's been completed... but it's not funded yet I don't think. You can read the report here - http://www.gotransit.com/PUBLIC/en/news/ea/georgetown-kitchener/ea_georgetown-kitchener.htm...

    Transit improvements for PanAm Games

As nfitz said, there's less than 6 years, no way a subway will be built in that amount of time. The Spadina extension was fully funded almost 3 years ago and is still at least 6 years away..

Sharon Yetman's Subway Safety Plan (Better barrier for subways 'an obsession')

I don't see how you can simply contrast the time between "inhibited" and "uninhibited" egress from a train and say that your proposal will reduce dwell time by that much for each train. If you have separate doors for loading and unloading then you'll just get a massive crowd of people inside the...

What happened to all the H1N1 vaccine they said we had?

From http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2009/10/29/vaccine-flu.html: “We do not have as much as we had hoped at this point, but right now in Canada there are more doses out there than any other country in the world per capita,” So we're doing pretty well here. I don't think there's anything...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I assume they've done studies that show that there are a certain number of people already commuting to the Richmond Hill station from north of these new stations, so adding them will free up capacity at Richmond Hill... not sure about that though. I think the major reason for this extension is...

What happened to all the H1N1 vaccine they said we had?

Also see the abstract for a published study of squalene and olive oil: As a working hypothesis, it is proposed that the high squalene content of olive oil, as compared to other human foods, is a major factor in the cancer-risk reducing effect of olive oil. Experiments in animal models suggest a...

What happened to all the H1N1 vaccine they said we had?

I somehow have trouble trusting a site like newfluwiki2.com. I'll trust my own common sense, which says that since 100mL of olive oil has at least 10 times the amount of squalene in the adjuvant, I should be OK. Also, according to the WHO, there was never squalene in the Gulf War vaccines...

That's a pretty bad typo to make for an industry news site.
