    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

More action planned for the new highway 7 from KW to Guelph this time around. Although completion of the Victoria Street bridge replacement has been pushed to 2019, it is still slated to close in November. Still no firm end date though. We're at 10 years since originally promised by McGuinty...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

There was an entire article in the Record that used 501B as the train number over and over again after the April Open House. It was painful to read. It also states that it would be testing in May. No on-track testing has occurred yet.

I think this one would be a close contender (although not in Ontario, or Canada...)

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

GRT in Waterloo region recently updated their website design, including updated trip planner. They didn't include pdf schedules on the new design. This lasted only a few days before they gave in and made the pdf versions available again. There's always going to be a demand for less complex...

The Yeti cafe in Kitchener had shirts with this design for sale a year or two ago. Not sure if they're still available.

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

If the OPP were to enforce "keep right except to pass" the transport-induced congestion might be a bit less along here. As the main thoroughfare through this part of the province, I find it quite busy. Even a few years ago on Christmas Day it was fairly steady with traffic.

This would probably be better than what's there today:

I've gone down to Halifax / Moncton a few times on that trip and remember feeling slightly confused on the first trip when I woke up at 6:30 to see the engines passing by and going off on the siding towards Gaspe.

Roads: Highway 401 Widening - Highway 8 to Highway 410 (MTO, U/C, Planned)

Absolutely nothing. Traffic doesn't warrant it at this time. More just a convenience project than anything if it goes forward.

I believe it's King W at this point. King E = 401 - Frederick (even with the section missing from Fairway to Montgomery), King W: Frederick - Union. King S: Union - Erb, King N: Erb to St Jacobs. Yes, you will be able to cross at Wellington.

They've taken out the directional eastbound Wellington ramp and altered the former westbound ramp to come to a stop light for both east and west turns. Eastbound Wellington will go straight through at Shirley/Riverbend, likely by end of this year, to make a more direct connection to Bingmean's...

They've started working on the bridges between Woodstock and London. Highway 19/119 is being replaced this summer.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I didn't realize that Metrolinx was still going to be held up by GEXR after purchasing the Guelph Sub from Silver > Kitchener a few years back. Looks like GEXR is still maintaining it, hence the lack of significant upgrades. Metrolinx is giving the impression that this might change in the near...
