I'm also very close to this. I think those buildings were just too close to the road as time went on. It will be nice to get rid of the blight that these buildings + avenues garage were in the area for the past 6 or so years though. Hopefully this will spur some more development to finally...

Hooooooooly this is bad compared to the renders. Main+Main's worst showing?

This will have a huge impact on the area, it is becoming apparent how large the lot as they knock it down and tear out the trees. This seems to be a very controlled demolition with lots of onsite separation.

You can see the glass in the second picture bottom to the right of the 3rd and 4th floors of brick. They are working slowly but surely on the tower glass.

Working on the brick on podium and the fourth floor of the tower now. Brickwork looking pretty.

    Started demo today

Pretty crazy, but this is almost back at grade for that back tower.

Pretty sure the tower will match the shell side brick. Not saying that is a good thing.

They started ripping out trees and jackhammering inside the buildings, I expect full demo to be soon.

Ya I commented this earlier this week but didn't know how to do it either! You've given me confidence for next time. I've seen workers around most days kind of putting about disconnecting the various buildings and investigating buried wires etc.

In my opinion the build-out that is being done on the old CT means they are planning on being in it for 20+ years. By that point I assume all of the Claridge project behind it will be done. I'd even bet we get a tower where you mentioned as well as another in the old Corel HQ parking lot...

Pretty much anyone under the age of 40 is acutely aware of how batshit housing prices are right now. Although NIMBYs have always skewed older, the difference now is many of them are hearing from their kids that it is just way too expensive.

    General Update/Rumour Thread

Couldn't find the thread here, but the CLV project at Churchill and Richmond has finally put up its fence with excavator on site. They will likely demo the 4 buildings soon.

Second, much taller crane went up on Friday.

There's a 0% chance any of this is built in the next 20 years. It like the optimism but this is just busy work.

Ya judging by how this one has completely stalled I think it is up next.

    Ottawa | 1655 Carling Ave | 50+56m | 16+18s | 1655 Carling Development Inc | RLA

This was always an ugly building. It's looking about as nice as that design could possible look.

    1357 Baseline Rd | 48m | 15s | Smart Living | ACDF

I think it was rush job to get the superstructure complete so they didn't hemorrhage money on the crane rentals. Doesn't mean they will rush the plumbing, HVAC, electrical etc.

    Ottawa | The East Flats | ?m | 25-45s | Claridge | EVOQ

This is a solid, top end of mid-grade. If this is the quality Claridge continues to build they will keep that market segment on lock. Question will be how the manage on the upcoming Sens builds which I assume will lean more high end.

Build it up and put pickleball courts the whole length.
