    Rob Ford's Toronto

My dental hygienist tells me that people with poor oral hygiene usually have other health issues as well, and people with good oral hygiene generally don't. It has to do with overall self-care, healthy lifestyle, etc. At this point it's pretty clear that Rob's self-care is quite bad. Yellow...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I don't think those kinds of little things are silly. So, so often I've found that little things were actually red flags, early warning signs of the kind of person I was dealing with. They add up. Of course with Ford we are WAY past the red flag stage, and yet he and his brother are...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Yikes, that was pretty bad. But there are evidently lots of people willing to overlook his lying, drug use, probable domestic violence, etc, so, to them, what's a little insensitive candy tossing? EDIT: Plus there is that weird psychological thing people sometimes do, the more evidence...

Thanks! So what's with all the horrible food pics? Some of them look like mouldy poutine. And those pictures of the teenage girl with a six-pack are squicky in all kinds of ways. Ugh.

    The Condo Game [CBC Documentary]

Just because a couple people on here have (so far) had a nice time in their condo does not negate the unique risks and hassles that are possible - and have actually happened in significant numbers - with condos. Any condo development can turn bad at any time. All it takes is a few incompetents...

    Read 'em all already.

Do you have a link for that? I have the flu so I'm killing time anyway.

My guess is that Renata has her own very serious issues. Add those to the probable abuse dynamic in the marriage, and she can't see her way out of it. She has been with Rob since high school, I think? So she may have literally no idea how she could live without him. We know, and she knows...

Many things about that review are ridiculous. This line killed me: "The culture did not encourage academic advancement."

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Looks like it, so far. One of the news commentaries about the whole Ford fiasco discussed how ill-equipped the Canadian national character is to deal with rudeness. We've never had a public official like him before, so we don't quite know what to do about it. Taking away his powers, turning...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I think this is right. I wish it weren't, but a big weight loss would be enough for lots of people to think that RF had turned himself around. It's a perfect visual signifier for that, even if it's all bollocks in reality. Ugh - imagine how emboldened the Fords will be if Rob is re-elected...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

The Pam thing was around the time of her sex tape, which I think wasn't long after Baywatch, which was HUGE at a time when lots more people globally had TVs than during the original Star Trek. I think Justin Bieber has surpassed Shatner by now - because there is more media these days. Now...

At one time Pamela Anderson was the most famous Canadian so, yeah.

It will win him votes with some people - the same ones who think he saved them a billion dollars.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Yup. Imagine what this city would be like after EIGHT years of Ford.

    GTA real estate report

This may be of interest to some on UT. http://www.rbc.com/newsroom/pdf/Priced-Out-1202-2013.pdf Mods, please move this if it's more appropriate for another forum. Thanks!

Accents have nothing to do with this. Ford doesn't have an accent. It's just sloppy pronunciation. Small potatoes given the rest of the Ford situation, but still off-putting.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I've lived in Toronto for over 20 years, most of my life in fact, and I don't hear "chronno" from anyone other than Ford. Anyway, at ceremonies and such, one is supposed to speak clearly and more on the formal side.
