Regardless of what you think of the colour, there is nothing else like it in Toronto. It will be striking and will in no way blend into surrounding buildings like so many other recent projects.

If the preservation of the exterior matches the render that was released today this is as close to perfection as we can expect. Just look at what happened to the old Montreal Forum. It makes 10 Dundas Street East look beautiful by comparison.

Talk of demolishing this building, even within a time frame of twenty years is insane. There is a great deal right with this property. What's wrong can be fixed relatively inexpensively. To go back to ground zero would be irresponsible not to mention uneconomical.
As much as these centres need redevelopment (and they do), I wonder if in the decades to come we will lament the loss of the original centres. These sites are literally being wiped clean. The existing architecture will be lost forever. That may not seem like a loss now but than how many "ugly"...
The idea of these outside artificial fields is that it allows play much earlier and later in the season when heavy rain and almost daily freeze-thaw cycles turn "natural fields" into a sea of mud. Its a great idea.
Watching the parade of mayors in the video, past and present, its a wonder Toronto hasn't ended up like Buffalo, Detroit or Rochester. What a sad and pathetic group. You would think a city this great could produce better leaders.
