    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Okay well, there are 26 stations on the line. We know for a fact that there's going to be stations at Keele, Caledonia, Dufferin, Oakwood, Eglinton West, Bathurst, and Chaplin. Which is 7. We also know Yonge, Kennedy, and Scarborough Centre, so 10. And let's say at least one station in the...

Adding Subway Stations on Existing Lines

Plus Davenport at Spadina Rd/Baldwin Steps is not exactly a most major intersection.

Adding Subway Stations on Existing Lines

Were the spots actually left open on Yonge or were they just eliminated from the original plan? There's a big hill between Lawrence and York Mills that might get in the way of a theoretical Glen Echo station.

Adding Subway Stations on Existing Lines

A stop at Blythwood and Yonge would be nice. I have no idea if it's possible though.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Miller is directly responsible for securing the Transit City funding from the province, and that money is what's making Eglinton possible. So yes, it is very much his legacy, shovels or no.

    Roncesvalles Reconstruction

Am I the only one who's having a hard time picturing where this alignment is supposed to go? Down Roncesvalles "towards Liberty Village" (down King? alongside the Gardiner? Does it actually reach Liberty?) and then back up "alongside Queen West" (Richmond? Adelaide? Queen itself?) and then...

    Toronto Island Gondola?

Gondolas at ski hills do sometimes get shut down in icy or windy conditions though.

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

In what way is the Sheppard Subway "overdue"? Isn't the projected ridership like 5000 pphpd?

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

The problem with this is that the majority of riders currently want to get somewhere nearby on Finch and the local bus is already insufficient for their needs. Yes, the hydro route might alleviate some demand on Finch initially (although probably not much since there is no hydro corridor for the...

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

300m is like a four minute walk. And a lot of people would be walking both to and from the corridor on a single trip.
  11. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

Would the city even be allowed to build an overpass on the Hydro lands?
  12. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

There's still the problem of the hydro corridor only going as far as Weston Road. What good is a "long-haul express line" that doesn't actually reach the people who need it the most (i.e. the people furthest from the subway)? If you're talking current ridership that's closer to 1000 pphpd. You...

    TTC: Sheppard Subway Expansion (Speculative)

Uh but that sentence says they're taking tax revenues from Eglinton AND Sheppard, not just Eglinton. So the project that comes next can't use the Sheppard money because that's already tied up in the Sheppard subway.
  14. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

Projected ridership for the Finch West LRT in 2031 was 3,000 people per hour per direction, which is well below what would justify a subway.
  15. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

The dots represent areas, not points. Nearly all the origins and destinations directly border Finch Avenue.
  16. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

\ This sounds like the same logic that says "if only we extended the Sheppard Subway to STC then all of a sudden enough people would flock to it to justify the expense." It's pure speculation and you could use similar arguments to justify any transit expansion. Plus I find it hard to...
  17. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

Yeah the difference would be in capacity, not speed.
  18. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

That was the plan before the mayor scrapped it. Presumably a centre-lane BRT would reach there just as easily.
  19. T

Finch Avenue West: Opportunities for Improved Bus Service

Is there even that much long haul demand on this route? The TTC report seems to suggest that the vast majority of riders on the Finch West bus are going to and coming from locations on Finch itself. Also Humber College is clearly one of the most important destinations on the route and a...
