LA Times: VHS era is winding down

PLasma screens rely on phosphors to produce light...just like a CRT. Phosphors fade.

Now that I think about it, the method of modulation hasn't changed either...it's still AM!

LA Times: VHS era is winding down

yes, RF is still RF, it has never changed. The method of modulation has nothing to do with the antenna. Radio shack used to sell "colour antenna's" in th 70's....just like todays "HDTV" antennas, it's all marketing and means nothing.

Yes. The PSIP is also supposed to contain the programming lineup (TV Guide) for that station as well. I know CFTO doesn't do this which can cause problems for PVR's.

DTV uses virtual channel numbers which are contained in the PSIP data. I live in a low rise, facing north, around Queen and Logan, I can receive all the DTV broadcasts from the CN tower as well as most of the broadcasts from Buffalo and Rochester....with an indoor antenna.

He's british, they wash their clothes in the kitchen.

LA Times: VHS era is winding down

No they haven't. The mandate states that US broadcasters must transmit DTV instead of NTSC. DTV can be SD or HD with many different resolutions and aspect ratios supported.

    How wonderfully condecending of you.

Do you realise that these standards were ratified long before anyone even made a 480p display? They don't just keep "inventing" things to piss you off. Get a clue. You keep telling yourself that 480i is the best, no one else agrees.

...or, it was never stocked at that particular store...like the 'christmas animation projectors' that are often offered for sale in your fliers....but aren't actually carried by the flagship store at Yonge and Devenport....according to the many CT representatives that I asked.

    TD Centre Christmas Tree

Did you think it was growing there?
  14. D

    Canadian Tire

Yes, it's always been that way...too bad "head office" doesn't actually know what their stores stock....or don't stock. No, but when I come in on a Saturday morning, the day the sale starts, and there is no stock left, it becomes clear what the game is. These sales are just to get people...

Perhaps the security guards could watch the cash registers, instead of the people entering the store, who haven't bought anything yet. How did their business plan get approved? Why not use three? Maybe they should consult with the Ryerson business students upstairs...they seem to...

RBC Centre (LEED Gold, CadFair, 41s, KPF/B+H/&Co.) COMPLETE

You're right, I built some myself...they do more then the versatubes do, and didn't cost nearly as much. If you'd like my firmware for a PIC 16f688 based 3 channel DMX receiver, let me know. It has a (mostly) linear PWM response. Actually, any DMX512 controlled RGB LED fixture can display...

You prefer sodium vapour street lights? Why when you can have them all? They're called versatubes, about $100.00 each on ebay.

Indeed, Britain is a shining example of a peaceful nation, where all members love each other and work together....no terrorism there ;)
