Yonge Street, North York Streetscape Improvements

https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2018/03/23/city-planners-urge-mayor-to-support-north-yonge-st-bike-lanes.html “Reducing one lane of traffic in each direction allows for expanded sidewalks, greenery, and more space for patios and public life. Bike lanes are part of the package, but they aren’t...

Wouldn't it be great to have four lanes, wider medians, and wider sidewalks? This issue of bike lanes is like a red flag for bulls on either side of the issue.

I prefer four lanes on Yonge north of Sheppard.

What's with the large tent on this stretch? I've walked by but no one seems to be occupying it yet it's been there a couple weeks...

I disagree. There's not much discussion because the concept of bike lanes is riling up everyone's bloodlust. Reducing Yonge to 4 lanes would contribute to a goal of quieter and more pedestrian friendly streets. The bike lanes could be empty for all I care. Make them baby stroller lanes.

You write almost entirely about cyclists here, but I'm interested in the potential for lane reduction. Having the bicycle lanes means two less traffic lanes. That improves the streetscape for almost everyone - everyone except drivers - and even they are only minimally negatively affected...

Yonge Street, North York Streetscape Improvements

Of course everyone has their own individual biases and opinions, but if you're asking me who has the City's best interests at heart I trust City staff more than Councillors. I think some other posters (including yourself) have provided ample evidence of Councillors self-serving interests over...

Toronto Toronto | Yonge Sheppard Centre Renovations and Expansion | 123.13m | 35s | RioCan | BDP Quadrangle

Took a quick look through the YongeSheppard website but I couldn't find updated information about the construction timelines? Anyone in the know have an idea? I understand the rental tower will be completed last. I think the tunnel connection to Madison Centre was supposed to reopen Fall...

Anyone know when in March is the final vote? And how soon can reconstruction start? I'm just looking forward to any kind of improvement.

For those of you who are MDP Metropass customers, the below may be of interest: -------------------------------------------- Brad Ross forwarded your email to me. Thanks for reaching out and I’m happy to tell you that we will be introducing the 12 Month Pass on PRESTO for the April pass...

I don't want to contribute to this thread turning into a groceries discussion, but TVO's The Agenda had an excellent discussion on the Changing Grocery Landscape just this week - Enjoy.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Thanks for the links. And I appreciate your hopefulness that it may not be long before MDP Metropass is migrated to Presto. But the worrywart in me keeps noticing that in all the language from the TTC regarding the Presto and Metropass, there is no mention of migrating MDP customers. Expanding...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Thanks, I made an error. I meant to say that "only the main entrance will be accessible via Metropass". Here's the link to the TTC's statement. http://www.ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/PRESTO/Sheppard-Yonge.jsp The main entrance will be accessible via Metropass and Presto. The Poyntz, Harlandale...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

It was available, but as of today (Nov 29) it seems to have disappeared. I called the TTC MDP Office (very long hold, nice Christmas music from the radio tho) and was informed that they (staff) have not been informed of the switchover yet as they are still installing the Presto gates and have...

I can't comment on the look of the building (well I can, but I don't want to get involved in that discussion) but I'm very much hopeful for the public realm benefits this project will bring in terms of the farmers market.

Look, I dislike his style of discussion with posters who disagree with him, but you're clearly baiting him with this statement. He is usually quite accurate. Turning back to the building, in the retail of EP I've now tried both Caribbean jerk places. I prefer Allwyn's. Eupin's is also quite...

I strongly dislike commenting in this thread (or now any online forum actually) but I think you raise an interesting point. As a resident of the Y+S area, when my partner and I were looking for our second condo (as in, selling and moving out of condo #1 and buying and moving into condo #2) we...

From the 2013 article you quoted: Because we hate science, we decided to conduct a Twitter poll to get to the bottom of this all important question: what are the best and worst LCBO locations. Here are some general observations... That's not confirmation.
