    Toronto's and Province's New 12.4B Eglinton/SRT/Sheppard Plan

'Enhanced bus service' is not bus lanes. Finch is getting no such thing.

    Toronto's and Province's New 12.4B Eglinton/SRT/Sheppard Plan

"Toronto must pay at least $49M to cancel LRT plan" So, as long as there are no additional cancelation costs (yea, right, Bombardier is just going to forget about almost 1/3 of the LRV order when they know full well the Sheppard line isn't coming) then the city's deficit is up to... what? 833M...

New Automated TTC service disruption announcements

There's nothing special about their software.. like joeclark said, it's just the voice Alex from Mac OS X.

New Automated TTC service disruption announcements

I just tested the voice out on my computer... they must have intentionally not have told the computer to pronounce 'Spadina' since it's pronounced SpAdina (i.e. Spa (with an emphasis on the A) and then dina) by default. I figured out how to get it to pronounce Spadina though.... 'Spuh-Dina' does...

    Transit City Plan

If it'd meet the demand for less $ then sure. For what it's worth though, the study said "There is not sufficient space for a 3.5m by-pass lane in the Sheppard Avenue transit ROW while providing a 'comfortable' walking environment, bicycle lanes, four through lanes and left turn lanes for...

    Transit City Plan

All I was saying was that we need not waste $ on the Sheppard Subway. We could build a Finch East LRT instead of a Sheppard East LRT for all I care (especially since the 39E is one of the busiest bus routes) - but that doesn't legitimize extending the Sheppard Subway

    Transit City Plan

    1. So we have limited money, but we should spend it on the Sheppard Subway because you hate leaving things unfinished? 2. Well obviously there's demand on Sheppard - there's demand on Steeles and on Lawrence and on Finch and on Keele and on pretty much every street in Toronto - the question is...

David Gunn to consult on TTC budget cuts

and.... that was quick. It sounds like he's gone before he even came. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/toronto/transit-guru-david-gunn-says-his-views-likely-to-kibosh-ttc-invitation/article1943780/?utm_medium=Feeds%3A%20RSS%2FAtom&utm_source=Toronto&utm_content=1943780

    Eglinton-Crosstown Corridor Debate

I didn't vote for Ford. My family didn't vote for Ford. What if it wasn't the majority of transit users that voted for Ford up here, but rather the non-trnasit users (pure speculation). THen would it be okay to say screw Finch? I'm really happy that it seems like Eglinton will go through, but I...

    Transit City Plan

Yea it sure could be worse.... it would be nice if the Finch W LRT went ahead though - we'd still have the 1.13B (http://stevemunro.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/201012TTCBriefing.pdf) from the Sheppard East LRT to put towards Eglinton.

Why does the vehicle type matter? Is it going to be slower than a subway car? No.

    Toronto Toronto | Leslie Barns | ?m | ?s | TTC | SAI

My comment was backwards-looking. You phrased your comments to imply that buses stay the same while streetcars don't. My point is that this isn't exactly something that is an ongoing concern, rather that it was a one-time issue. As to my bus vs streetcars comment, as allabootmatt said, new...

This is a once in a hundred years change. Buying new buses to replace the streetcars would require new garages (2 I believe) at a few hundred million each.

    Transit City Plan

I'd wondered about that... I'd actually thought that it wasn't even an option to not own the lines since of accounting issues.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I believe he can't legally cut the number of officers because of the Police Services Act. That kind of complicates things doesn't it?
