They’re constructing a massive scaffolding on the west side of the former Sears/Eatons. I guess this is the beginning of the construction for the BMO campus.
Also live in the area, and as out of scale as this spandrel monstrosity is, I am looking forward to this parking lot being developed, and interested to see how the residents, and the additional retail changes the area for better or worse.
I agree, it looks pretty great. I think if the render was more true to the final outcome, it would be receiving universal praise as a podium that’s properly massed for its area and has some unique detail.
Stumbled across this listing for the Rehearsal Factory building on Front Street East. https://www.realtor.ca/Residential/Vacant-Land/19133980/178-FRONT-ST-E-Toronto-Ontario-M5A1E6-Moss-Park
They’ve stripped the interior of the sales office in the former Acura dealership that served as the sales office for Social after Time and Space was sold out. Demolition soon?
Now we are, after a year of stagnation. I know it's complex engineering etc, but I have a friend who bought here, and his occupancy date has already been pushed multiple times, so it was almost surely longer than they planned as well.
BMO already occupies multiple freshly renovated floors of 250 Yonge, I guess they're trying to centralize and consolidate their office space downtown rather than sprawled out over the GTA.
I think it would have looked a lot better if they painted the underside of the balconies a darker colour. The white makes the rectangular shape of the building stand out.
