The CN towers current position tends to shrink all of the buildings around it. Since it isn't in a centre of the skyline and none of the other towers in Toronto are even close to its height (in fact most are about half the height), it tends to take the attention away from all of our skyscrapers...

The reason that this 80 story skyscraper is getting considered when the Frank Gehry towers aren't is because Frank Gehry is proposing 3 80 story skyscrapers. Obviously anyone would choose any one of those towers over this one.

Gosh why are there so many whiners on this forum! The Oxford Place towers would look amazing standing next to the CN Tower, and they easily look nicer than any of those boxes in the Financial District (apart from Scotia Plaza), one of which is unfortunately the tallest skyscraper in Canada -.-...

Unfortunately I strongly doubt that 156 Front and Union Centre will remain as tall as they are proposed. But if they are not reduced, the addition of 156 Front, Union Centre, Oxford Towers will make the skyline look stunning, and it only gets better if One Yonge gets approved as well!
