    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

Yea I did not know about this Humber Loop part of the Beltline. Been through Swansea so many times and wasn't aware. Pretty neat to learn about.

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

Why have a loop when we could have a spiral lolol. Had the idea today and just wanted to sketch it out. It's the province's fantasy loop, but with OL continuing up Weston Sub > Barrie Sub > then Belt Line reactivation cuz why not. Go from YYZ to Union while circumnavigating the city. Twice.

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

This is such a far-out concept that I wouldn't put too much faith in what it's proposing. That being said a line from Kipling was once conceived and even had a platform built in anticipation for it. Speaking of which. I read a dreadful amount of whines in the past re: other lines and their...

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Light metro is optimal for that. Naturally not going to put a mainline train along the 427, LRVs are inefficiently hefty and built for operating in traffic, a "heavy" metro means more capacity which this wouldn't need. So light metro it is. Alternatively it could be BRT, which is what this plan...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Yes should commuting for all modes, between place of residence and work (i.e no shopping and dropping kids off etc).

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Ok well ssriguy said transit. But yeah general commuter flow is something else. I've posted this before cuz I just looove these kinds of maps, and huge credit to the fellow Anthony Smith who made it. But it's GTHA commuter flow, mapped. From the 2016 Census. Not sure how to insert twitter stuff...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Not disputing this, but am interested in the source. GO's train/bus mode split is about 4:1, and Union as a quasi foci sees ~75k/day pre-Covid for rail (approx 35% of rail total). Then there's TTC. It alone carries more riders than all the local agencies in the GTHA combined, by a multiple of...

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

Interesting dynamic shaping up. When Covid hit the belief (at least for me) was that the car would reign supreme for awhile. People aren't confined to a public space, roads with less traffic. But with supply chain issues new/used cars were hard to obtain, and now gas is extremely expensive...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Hmm... wouldn't mind swindling one of those moorings. Something to lock the bike on outdoors, or a garden discussion piece.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

No way FWLRT is $2.5bn. That must be the funny math where it includes 30yrs operating or something. Or have I missed something and it truly is 2.5bn lol? Things cost so much here I don't even know anymore

Until after the election when it's quietly rescinded.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

For sure money. I just want a semi-official response for that. Secondary I could say fear of overloading the system, though we did have the previous fare agreement. Tertiary, maaybe, is fear of attracting too many undesirables. If a deranged foul aroma person hogs four seats, it detracts from...

Isn't AMA on this site. She should be giving a real answer why TTC was excluded.

Going to add on a bit here. I think the trains sitting in the valley is okay with regards to ambience. They're already half camouflaged with their two shades of green and dark brown. They're photogenic, and being a commuter train fit in well in both a natural and urban environment. What degrades...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

Correct they do overspend. Tunnelling 40m below Highland Ck, 50m below the Don, 20m below an unopened transportation corridor. All the while saying how we shouldn't tunnel under rivers and should use transportation corridors. Sheppard will definitely be announced, announced that it will be...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

The City is fairly proactive with dealing with mosquitoes and has larvicide programs. And I think this is largely moving water (from a disinfected source). No to go a bit more o/t, the document talks about high water table and the effect on trees. You know those rotary exhaust fans you see on...

Waterfront Transit Reset Phase 1 Study

Ok that's pretty interesting and new. Wetland, daylit creek, and greenwall as part of a streetcar underpass. I love water.

My issue is with heritage of the bridge. It's the second nicest structure in the city behind the CN Tower, I believe supposed to have a light display for the girders a la Eiffel Tower. And they want to put a building and parking lot underneath it. Raises so many questions. Mind somewhat blown lol.

Easy for you to write, up in Newmarket or wherever. A lot of people like the valley, and they're writing their opinion on it.
