Fantastic ... This picture shows the main car access / car port for the cultural centre. Now this picture is very much appreciated, as we've not seen this angle from the West. Looks like there is still a lot more construction to go there based on the concrete protruding upwards. My...

^^^ I'd think that central ring that these heavy trusses will form, will be the key to balancing the force of gravity against the outward angled second floor walls. Nice to see a construction that is so integrated, rather than being formed of 10' x 10' boxes!

Awesome pictures Jim! I'm sure you'll soon be getting thousands of hits on that photo set! I noticed in the following picture you took that the frame for some of the Museum's angled skylights is going in. Looks like progress continues at a quick pace, and with so many details, it is actually...

That's a *fantastic* behind the scenes update! Many of the photos were fascinating. This one is cool as you can see how the facets of the exterior of the cultural centre roof are not mapped inside, rather, the inside has different facets. Great angle slippy - will be nice to see once the...

June 10th update by Jim Bowie via Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cobby17/5820025096/sizes/l/in/photostream/ Looks like the cultural centre`s crystalèsque roof external frame is close to complete (so looking forward to glass going up there!) and they have been removing forms on the...

Any more glass added on the cultural centre's crystal'esque roof?

^^ Thanks Jim! You have a great vantage point! Please do share images as construction progresses and the steel and glass roof proceeds to be put together.

I just noticed that on the few left sections where the forms have been removed from the second floor angled walls, temporary support pillars remain. I've been curious about the engineering of those walls and am wondering if the roof will be bearing the horizontal strain, thus making a ring...

^^ Thank-you! The cultural centre is looking very intriguing! I wonder if that is the external layer of the roof or the internal layer? It didn't look to large in the models and renders, but it looks quite large in these pictures. Perhaps the large lot resulted in the height being understated.

This project is looking epic. Scale is becoming more clear. The cultural centre side's construction is also looking very cool - and is a fantastic surprise given it has received less of the attention given proximity relative to DVP.

Well - it is May now, and the story was that the start of getting the roof elements of the cultural centre may begin some time in May. Any hint of that? Has anyone been able to get pics lately of the Museum angled walls, as well as roof prep on the ismaili centre side?

April 11-12 pictures Jim Bowie has posted some recent pictures. Have a look: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?fbid=212270522133331&id=129700287057022&aid=65338

How are they dealing with the loads angled walls clad in stone bring? Are they anchored at their angles through the first floor, down through the parking and into the foundation, or are they being 'held in' by trusses on the roof? I agree, photos would be very nice to see.

Okay thanks. The museum is on the Eastern end (by the DVP) and the cultural centre is on the Western end - so likely the second picture.

^^^ Thank-you for the update YYZER! I'm having difficulty placing the first picture in particular. Is that the cultural centre side?

Photos please!!! I'm actually really curious of how the upper level angles in the museum interact with the glass dome angles in the centre. I think there are many subtleties of the designs that will one come out clearly once the project is completed.

Would love to see some new photos. Anyone with a camera pass by this location during a regular commute? I'm also quite curious about the cultural centre part, as most of the pictures from the near by condos only really show the museum.

Very exciting indeed! Can't wait to see the pictures. On a related note, Jim Bowie has created a video from the construction pictures he is taking from his condo vantage. You can watch the progress from March 2010 to 2011 here.
