it's the right idea ? cost as much... already past it's life span... yeah... if your in the construction business it's the right idea... so pretty much it's proven light rail is not the answer... lesson learned gotcha ;)

the cheap out to build the SRT in the first place is now coming back to haunt... to make the mistake again is absurd. it will only last another 30 years. For the cost of these 2 SRT's it's more than would have cost to originally make the SRT a subway to begin with that would still be good for...

I don't think that is something they would be in the know on... i'm sure if there is something cooking, roustan and the mayor (maybe a select few others) are the only ones with knowledge. they are under a confidentiality order...

well let's face it, rumours are of a secret deal with the NHL. Markham is smart enough not to shoot their mouthes off like Balsillie and QC did. even QC has shut their mouthes in the last few months... this is how the NHL does business, quietly behind the scenes, you play ball and tow the line...

you figure with just the Leafs, Raptors and Rock... that's ~100 dates wiped out from just Oct - May (more if God forbid any of them can make the playoffs, or a long run)... so during the winter i'd bet there is quite a bit of business that could be had because the ACC is already booked.

ACC is one of the rare exceptions... all the rest have public funding... end of story

are you kidding ? lol.... there are maybe a handful of arenas / stadiums in north america that have been privately funded.. They all are taxpayer funded. The only thing this tells me is that they must have a private deal from the NHL about a future team.

there are plenty of people who hate the Leafs in Toronto... this is an NHL town... not just a Leafs town. just heck where you work, most places I have worked it's 50% Leafs, 50% other teams... so I don't buy that crap it's a Leafs town. As a Leafs fan myself, I would buy tickets to a new team...

they will play in Copps until the new arena is ready... rumours are the Bulldogs are going to Laval. so the building will have no team in it if thats the case. AEG is trying to get Copps in their stable.... kind of seems like it's almost pre-planned, don't it ?

not to mention Quebec arena is slated to finish in 2015, Markham is slated for fall 2014.

sorry but this is baloney... how many minor league baseball teams are in NYC , LA or Chicago ? none... so by your logic they are not baseball towns. The fact is they are pro sports oriented towns, that's the way Toronto is.... Toronto will only support major league teams. so welcome to the new...
