TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Just to confirm, have any older streetcars been overhauled or rebuilt to a state of good repair yet? Obviously 30 CLRVs are about to but I feel like I remember reading that some ALRVs were repaired a while back. Am I remember right? And if I am, how much of the older LRV fleet will have been...

I'd rather see the city try and buy back this land to maintain the sightline and relationship that @thecharioteer illustrated in his photo from August. Especially considering the disgustingly ugly tower proposed for this site.

I'd argue that that boundless optimism for the future also resulted in the destruction of wide swathes of downtown, the building of high rise slums like St. Jamestown and caused the overexpansion of the subway network into the suburbs (not that it didn't make sense to expand outward as it...

Can we report a future dangerous driver? :p

Again, not suggesting the DRL is unnecessary or not a pre-requisite to what I'm thinking of here lol My reasoning is based on the recent history of Y-B as I understand it. Basically there were plans in the 80s to upgrade the station but the 90s recession and Harris years cut transit ridership...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

Admittedly I was imagining something to improve circulation. So not necessarily platform lengthening but rebuilding Y-B to improve transfers and capacity. Admittedly I'm not sure how much can be done but if we had two transfer points on each side of Y-B something could be done comparatively...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

I'd agree with this. Long term Y-B needs to be upgraded because it will always be the one of the main transfer points in the system, regardless of how much traffic the DRL and Spadina lines can divert. The interchange that'll be built for the DRL and Bloor lines (at Pape presumably) will...

I actually like the bump too. It's a simple break with the symmetry so it doesn't look ridiculous or tacked on. I feel like a truly symmetrical and simple box here would've looked oppressive but the tiny movement changes the look of the building from most angles. Just a nice, but small, detail imo

Right, but what else is there to do on UT other than incessantly whine about stuff? :p

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Or maybe he's just doing the usual PR thing? Like, not defending Bombardier or anything but it isn't a wild conspiracy or proof of anyone drinking the kool-aid to have to go through the motions like Ross probably is. He can't really be going around saying "Bombardier hasn't given us squat, fuck...

    Toronto's Transit Network Plan

^Exactly, the whining about City Planning's preference for Queen feels more like "Wah, my fantasy subway isn't coming true" than "Huh, I think King makes more sense." There's definitely virtues to the King route but you wouldn't think that the way some users talk. The lower cost and increased...

    Toronto Toronto | Chelsea Green (was 33 Gerrard) | 297.25m | 90s | Great Eagle | a—A

What I'd like to see myself is some kind of policy to encourage making Victorian homes into apartments. They're quite large and could easily hold 5-6 units, if not more in larger ones. Plus I've always found it a glaring example of the unfairness of capitalism that a small number can afford such...

When did that happen? Because all reports I've seen on this story have shown her to actually be mildly supportive at worst. Care to provide some kind of source on that claim?

The point you seem to be choosing to ignore, however, is that no one suggested the city is super dense. I merely stated that this represented a massive overdevelopment of this site, which is does. Anyone with eyes can see that building 4 towers of this height on such a small parcel of land is...

    VIA Rail

I'm not sure I get some of the complaints about HFR over HSR. I get that people want high speed service but surely we need to start somewhere? I for one would be ecstatic with electrified service and the 177km service in the Corridor, especially if it can be done for relatively cheap ($4...

There's actually tons of evidence that gentrification results in poor people being removed from an area and that programs like the Regent Park redevelopment are government-sponsored gentrification but I won't waste my time debating you because that's a fool's errand. I only want to call out the...

Arguably anything built here could be bland and background to highlight the heritage buildings on site. Something unique and nice would obviously be nicer but I think it wouldn't be an issue for a background building to be built here.
