    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

I'd actually prefer that we make the St Clair, Spadina, and Harbourfront serious rapid transit (stop consolidation and real TSP), and indicate them as LRT lines on the map, along with Finch West and Eglinton. If you're boarding from a road lane, its a streetcar. Its extremely unlikely the City...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

After "detailed constructability analysis" they realized its impossible to build a tunnel running on top of an already-under-construction tunnel that was not designed to support the load. This updated concept seems like a good thing though, operationally, financially, and from a...

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Posted in the EELRT thread but: https://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/mmis/2022/ex/bgrd/backgroundfile-226594.pdf Line 5 as we know it will likely terminate at Kennedy, with the EELRT becoming its own distinct project that has an at-grade connection to Line 5, Line 2, and GO at Kennedy.

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

The major news: Line 5 will end at Kennedy and the EELRT will be its own distinct line. While this is overall good operationally, I'm sure many here would have preferred the long term goal of have the grade-separated portion of Line 5 (Renforth to Science Centre) exist separately from the...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

As far as I know Metrolinx policy is to keep the existing name of the interchange. Which is why "Yonge Station" on the Eglinton Line is, bizarrely, going to be just called Eglinton Station.

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

Branch for frequent service between MCC and Union - riders heading to MCC from the west would have to get off at Cooksville GO and take the LRT north to reach their destination.

TTC: Bloor Danforth Line 2 West Extension(s)

Why can't it just be a spur? Run the tunnel from your 0-km marker up to MCC and create a layover area/turnback along the 403.

I don't have any insider info but it would be in their best interest to firm up decisions around stations before going to procurement, yes

To your last comment, no point in putting out the contracts if they are still working to get Cummer Station added to the line. Cheaper to delay than issue a major change order later on.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

As far as I know that wasn't legislation, and is also already in effect. I am betting this is something bigger.

This was in the OPC Budget:

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

BYD's buses failed on all fronts here. New Flyer is clearly leading the pack in BEBs, but still has a way to go before it compares to the reliability of diesel.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The RFPs for the civil works haven't even closed yet, so this is a misleading groundbreaking! I think they are just counting the Exhibition Early Works as the symbolic beginning of the OL construction, but much more still to be done before the real point of no return.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I am personally skeptical that this line will be the total failure people here are predicting. The TSP in place should be adequate to keep trains on schedule. I also don't know how they would easily convert the line into split operation, you'd need to upgrade the track infrastructure around...

    VIA Rail

My read on this was actually worse. The RFP submission deadline closes in Fall 2024, and is scheduled to take 18 months (bringing us to Spring 2026 my bad, the 18 months is for the entire RFP process). Then, a 3-year co-development phase begins which precedes construction. So the actual "shovel...

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

The map actually doesn't show the OL going to Kipling from Exhibition, and I'm not sure if this is a mistake or intentional. Currently its about 3/4 of a full loop, with the new extension stretching from Pearson up to RHC and then down to Science Centre.
  17. D

Ontario Line North of Eglinton (was Relief Line North) (Speculation)

Yeah it looks like a shared ROW for the new crosstown GO line and the OL loop, not a horrible idea, but are both really necessary? just run the OL loop from RHC to Union around to Pearson (btw not seeing a true loop because there is no link between Kipling and Union on the map), and use the...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

A lot of people, including the author of this article who is the Director of MetStrat. From their website: "MetStrat leads and supports comprehensive campaigning in the public interest." i.e... this is paid propaganda

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Hey, they built the Canada Line ahead of schedule. Frankly, I have equal confidence in all of these companies to do the job properly. With all of the pandemic-related turnover and "great resignation", I bet half the staff at SNC 2 years ago work for WSP or Hatch now anyways..

    Richmond Hill Toronto | Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I think the much easier version of this plan is to instead have the OL-GO interchange at Oriole-Leslie, with the OL extended up to the station through the RH corridor north of Eglinton.
