Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

A lot of good ideas on your map! I could also see a OL extension that is a combination of the blue and purple lines on your map. Something that turns at the Galleria development and stops in the junction and a future stockyards re-development. Could be a good compromise if a second line isn't in...

The tide is turning, but city wide, traffic planning is still deeply auto centric. Streetcar/LRT/BRT signal priority is a major example of this. Most dedicated transit right of ways are still subservient to auto traffic. I feel the need to respond to some of these points, but i feel like it will...

Not to get off topic, but as far as I know, the technology already exists, but isn't used because it is generally worse operationally, and definitely worse environmentally. Streetcar wires tend to be quite organized and easy on the eyes, especially on modern projects. It's everything else that...

In addition to the above. The billions of dollars that have made this development possible could have been conditional. If the city is going to rebuild the gardiner using a first Gulf proposal, and a major transit hub where nothing currently exists, they could apply a bit of pressure to play...

Not enough is correct, however it often gets brought up because it has such enormous potential to give riders maximum interchange connectivity. There are several goals it would accomplish by having an interchange somewhere on the Bloor line. It would relieve developing capacity issues on line 2...

Wouldn't it make more sense to connect the OL to the GO line that is already less than 4km away at Dundas West? Or the new station going in at Sudbury? It seems like this is a bit of a misapplication of the OL. I do however think that rapid transit from Kipling to the airport makes a lot of...

    Toronto Toronto | East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

I'm sure this has been addressed earlier in the thread, but I'm guessing it's just cheaper and easier for the developer to demolish? I've heard talk of soil contamination, but that sounds like a weak reasoning given the massive carbon expenditure on demolishing and rebuilding. Would any level...

I'm taking measurements on google maps, so this amounts to pure speculation, but it looks like there is theoretically enough room to portal under Dufferin if they dive immediately. The portal at Gerrard is in the 200 meter range (again zero science to the measurements I'm taking) and the length...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

It's far from what's necessary, but I was thinking 3 lanes as an interim solution. A way to narrow roads and slow traffic with the minimum budget before a comprehensive rebuild with hard infrastructure.

Putting aside other arguments against getting grid of the Skydome, a new park doesn't guarantee anything"first class." There are a lot of new parks in baseball that stink. Globe Life Field is solidly OK, Truist park is possibly the worst location in baseball, Marlins Park is worse than Skydome...

Theres no chance they change their mind on retaining the existing building correct? That ship has sailed? It's a major mistake urbanistically, a waste of their best asset on the site, and a climate blunder, but I guess no use in losing sleep over it now. I only bring it up because it's all over...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

Yeah, another light is better, but you're right, this stretch is miserable to be on. They should start by making it a 3 lane road. When they develop the mall they need major changes.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Pape Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

I wondered if there were technical reasons behind some of the decisions. Thanks for adding that information. It would be interesting to see how this one develops. As a subway station it's a major trip generator, so anything is possible, but I haven't seen much success with similar setbacks...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Pape Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

I mean, I said that this was an exception compared to the other stations. It's just demolishing a lot of vibrant streetscape for what is probably an over engineered station entrance. I'm not an expert, but there are a lot of busy Toronto stations that are simply a door in a building or a portal...

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line: Pape Station | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | HDR

I just find the GIANT setback offensive. The basic functionality of the street is wonderful and lively. Having a random inset will disrupt the streetwall in negative ways. If the buildings beside it were designed with a plaza in mind it would maybe work, but this isn't great compared to the...

From a climate perspective, they should be looking to extend the life of the dome for 30-50 years. Some here have said it's not feasible, but I haven't seen anything compelling to make me believe it. The 20-30 year stadium life cycles that have become the norm are ecologically untenable...

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

The first part is right, but my point isn't that the vehicles are strange its the routing of this line and the type of service. It's just not a route that people are going to take very often. Large parts of the route serve sparsely populated areas, when heavily populated areas are in dire need...

Ontario Line Extension West of Ontario Place (Speculation)

Really weird route for a Metro/light Metro. The airport isn't crazy, but a giant loop around town doesn't seem like a sensible mode. I don't really understand the plans and I'm having a hard time making out the graphic, but it seems like a local transit mode being applied to regional and...

    Laneway and Garden Houses (various)

A few of the new laneway homes in the St Clair west neighbourhood. The side by side houses illustrate how nice the laneways could eventually become. I had to shoot on a wide angle lens so it doesn't quite capture how nice and intimate the space is.
