Good job, Platform 27, on identifying the likely lead tenant for this Bremner building! :) As for the two banks that are shopping for large space, my guess would be BMO and Scotiabank. I'm so glad they're staying in the core (i.e. the required new space will be in downtown and not the 905). I...

If we look at the highrises that have popped up in downtown Toronto in the last few years, for the most part, doesn't it seem that most towers do fall into these two categories? (I'm thinking of high rises that are largely or completely done in central Toronto only.)

    Toronto Toronto | Bay Adelaide Centre | 217.92m | 51s | Brookfield | KPMB

The shadowing concerns are over-done for the downtown core. Most areas of central Toronto overall have little to no shadowing concerns and therefore if the area in and around the financial district is shadowed, does it really matter that much? Especially in light of the fact that the financial...

Grimace, yes, I can wait, of course! I'm sorry for sounding negative, it's just that I'm afraid of what will show up as a render (especially after my hopes for the Indx tower on Temperance Street were dashed). As for the connection to Parade, well there is none, except for that I don't like the...

Do you mean that the nearby Ice complex office tower was also trying to woo the same lead tenant to kick-start that project? Would you know when this Bremner Tower may announce its lead tenant and accordingly, start construction? (I'm assuming the lead tenants is one of the banks?) Thanks.

May be it'll be grey and orangish-brown (instead of being all grey), and we all know those colors go really well together! toronto hasn't seen such an awesome mix yet....oh wait, it has....we have the parade towers at city-less-place. :P Even if the design (initial render) for this tower is...

Why does Toronto always dominate the best cities list???

James, that would require foresight, planning, strategic thinking, etc. As you may be aware those things are hard to find in the offices that 'run' our (fair) city! Perhaps in 20 years things will change?

Completely agree! There have been very few 'stunners' and likely there will be very few in the future. Regardless of who the architects or developers are, I would rather err on the side of conservatism and caution in regards to expectations.

I completely agree! I'm surprised at how people who know how things often end up in this city still expect something different to eventually happen (whether it be the shape of the building or the colour/style of cladding)....the cladding in this case will most likely be blue, green, grey or a...

In this case, yes, it does look ... off .... I'm curious about something, Towered, do you consider gold jewellery 'tacky' or 'ghetto'? Just wondering... :)

There is one thing I like and three things I dislike when I look at this latest rendering: 1) I've liked the height of the proposals for this site... 2) I dislike the way the podium looks; I wish it transitioned better with the Graphic Arts building. 3) I dislike the fact that it doesn't have...

    Supertall and near-Supertall Rumour/Speculation Thread

OK, good! :) (I'm a Calgary transplant so you can only imagine the personal impact it would have had on me, a mega skyscraper geek.) :)

    Supertall and near-Supertall Rumour/Speculation Thread

You know what I'm fearing? That the LEED Platinum building will be in Calgary (just like how a few of you also think) but that building will be either completely or mostly office space, whereas the supertall in Toronto will be mostly or completely residential (with perhaps a bit of hotel space)...

    Height Restrictions in Toronto

Hi there, I have three questions: 1) Is anyone planning to attend this meeting on Feb 14? 2) What are the height restrictions for the secondary areas outlined in the report (as this covers most of SouthCore and am wondering what implications, if any, this study will have for that area)? 3) What...

But what about things like the Tall Buildings Study and of course NIMBYism - won't that affect the number of super highrises that will be constructed? (I can see more 5-30 storey buildings along major areas roads though.)

    Toronto Toronto | 88 Scott Street | 203.9m | 58s | Concert | P + S / IBI

They would make something less beautiful so that it would fit in better with Toronto's urbanscape. If too many attractive buildings and public spaces congregate together in 'the big smoke', locals will get confused and think they're somewhere else. It would go against Toronto's world-class...

    Toronto Toronto | Ten York Street Condos | 224.02m | 65s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

Taal, do you remember about a week ago I suggested you look up the amount of office space in the core of Toronto (as you thought it was only 50M sq. ft.) and I said it's closer to 75-80M sq. ft. (assuming you go up to Bloor, Spadina, etc. as boundaries)? You finally agreed, however, in a...

    Toronto Toronto | 88 Scott Street | 203.9m | 58s | Concert | P + S / IBI

This is why it's hard for some (like myself) to get too excited about renders for new projects in this city. It's likely that through the overall process of approval, construction, etc., a tower will become more boxy, less unique and likely more grey in color than what the initial render would...

I'm curious as to what you don't really like about 88 Scott or Aura? Could you elaborate?

Completely agree, Torontovibe! I don't feel they should have the opening date as Jan 31, 2012. This project is still too far away from being 'complete'. Perhaps it'll never be complete in the real sense?
