Did anyone else notice that they completed the installation of the transit-only left turn signal on 5th Ave and Centre St in the far right lane? I remember someone suggesting it on here or SSP back in the day. It was a simple and effective solution to relieve all of the congestion from buses...

Haha that's pretty clever. Fun fact: Treno (the coffee shop on the underpass on the 4th street side) is Italian for train :P

In other sad news, Silver Inn is closing on October 9th. Silver Inn is widely-accepted as the origin of Ginger Beef, an iconic dish that originally hails from Calgary.

Back to school is helping ridership too. I see all the teens walking from the C-Train to Western and St. Mary's on my walk from the Beltline.

Truly stunning. I can see how this would be a great backdrop for future film productions in the city.

Has anyone else noticed how the westbound #7 bus route along 17th Avenue constantly has cars parked in the bus stop? Specifically, it has been an issue at the stops on the corner of 4th street and 6th street. I don't fault the drivers since there's only a small bus stop sign that even...

Great location and they had tremendous success with Major Tom. However, I noticed that the SAIT culinary location on the +15 level has closed down for a while now, likely because they opened in the new location on 4th Street. I wonder if there are any plans for this spot?

This site has to be the most valuable undeveloped real estate in the Beltline. It's almost a full block of potential redevelopment, located on 17th Ave, views of Rouleauville Square and St. Mary's, 3 blocks from the Stampede C-Train station, and 5 blocks away from the new green line station on...

I think you're right. Jim Prentice announced a renovation and a smaller cancer centre at the South Health Campus. It was Notley who reversed the decision and led to the new comprehensive cancer centre at Foothills...

Thanks for sharing. Just going over the slide notes, it mentions that the city is interested in creating gateways to Chinatown but "[w]hat is meant by gateways is not necessarily a physical structure". Just a bit disappointed by this statement as Calgary's Chinatown is one of the only major...

I remember the architect from Snohetta explicitly stating that he didn't want to incorporate a +15 during the library design unveiling. He brought up how Norway, also a winter city, didn't have any +15's and people still survive.

I do hope that some elements of the concept design can be retained including the staggered floors to minimize shadowing on the north side of street and the retail fronting 17th Ave. Hopefully, this also spurs development of its neighbours in the former Purr building that has sat empty for years now.
