I have to admit that this site and its immediate surroundings are comically dense.

They should toss in a couple of beavers--might get some ACTUAL work done.

Love this! Would make an awesome album cover for any Toronto based band. (Too bad Rush isn't still around.)

Most of what I know about New Jersey is from The Sopranos, so I'll defer to you on that point. But some of the GTA's best residential architecture is in Mississauga. Their powers that be seem to have more local pride then do the soulless bean counters scuttling about in downtown Toronto.

Toronto will always find new ways to disappoint onlookers. It's hard to think of another city of similar size, wealth and global relevance that has the same utter indifference to the appearance of its built form.

Diverse design and cladding is not our strength.=(

    That's one helluva muscular skyline!

I like that last one! That kind of treatment could do wonders for so much of the city's archiblight. But, of course, it's written somewhere in the founding papers that Toronto can't have colorful, or nice things as it over stimulates the blood, causing the citizenry to get the vapors.

Definitely in the running for ugliest building of its height in the world.

    Public Art in Toronto

Looks like the sculptor may have been inspired by the Mr Universe contests that were a big deal in the early 70s. (Heck, they vaulted Lou Ferrigno--the original Hulk!--into minor celebrityhood.)

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

I just want to chime in and say what a great an important thread this is, so, a tip of the hat to Northern Light. As I no longer live in Toronto I can't contribute all that much, but I love reading the posts--in particular the incredibly detailed and spot on analysis by NT. I hope landscape...

King Kong is there for security. It's a rough neighbourhood so they need the best.

    Toronto Toronto | Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto

Dog Park and Sugar Beach are two of the most popular small parks in the city. People seem to genuinely enjoy being in them which, in a stressful, dense city where public space is at a premium, should be the city's only objective. I'll take a bustling, selfie-friendly Love Pk over a forlorn...

Problematic Park Design - Why Some Parks Don't Work

I can't wait to read your evisceration of June Callwood "Park"--quite possibly the most pretentious, useless and irritating waste of space in the city.

It's a darn shame we can't have both of these wonderful designs! With some resizing and alterations, I could see "The Generator" concept working nicely at the foot of Yonge Street. (would probably require filling in most of the Quay)

I'm really struck by the immensity of the excavation pit. Anyone know if this will be a 4 crane affair?
