    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

Hey CB, thanks for running this, super interesting. I was looking at the 5 yr trend when making the comment but the 20yr trend makes things more apparent. What is t

    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

I agree that some innercity communities growth rates can will slow down however there are a ton of peripheral communities and places close to the train where growth is essentially non existent. Specifically i'm thinking of neighourhoods like: kingsland, windsor park, glendale, glenbrook, rutland...

    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

That's partially true, and admittedly I am grumpy with how the census results turned out however the shopping in Mahogany has 52nd St. E on the west side and Mahogany Gate SE on the North side both of those are 6 lane roads.

    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

Yeah it's ridiculous, and not to throw shade on anyone but those communities will be garbage. Even in award winning Mahogany you can't even walk to the store and get a gallon of milk or visit a doctor without crossing a 6 lane road. Seton "downtown south," pure garbage, seton bouleward is...

    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

Glo is the perfect example of what's not working. One block from the train in the heart of what should be a bustling innercity neighbourhood. Not a great project however it fit the zoning requirements and would have added 100 new residents. I used to live across the street and honestly it makes...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I'm really excited about the art gallery completion and expansion. I've lived in Calgary for 8 years and not having a proper art gallery is my biggest beef with the city. This is another piece of the urban fabric that we needed to fill and I like that there is an old building being repurposed...

    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

I couldn't agree more in regards to things not working in the growth pattern. Surreal is right in that some innercity communities, namely downtown and east village did well however the beltline, mission, and inglewood are seriously disappointing. I have two major takeaways from the report...

    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

Kind of mixed bag, overall growth is decent at 18K however the innercity to new community growth is pretty lopsided, not encouraging if 50% of growth is going to come from existing communities.

    Calgary 2019 Civic Census

Man, they've posted Sept 3rd as the date for distribution, it's almost 9:30am and nothing yet. What gives, haha. Also, my guess is 19K but who knows.

The inverted bowl Rossetti is pushing looks interesting. I could see a setup like that being super loud and intimate. I'm not 100% convinced on the exterior design but I think more details of the concourse, entrances and interaction with existing street are needed.

That proposal is dope, I really like the massing. If executed right it could really add to the mix in Inglewood.

Good news for Sarina, they have done some decent projects and this looks like another addition to that portfolio. Is the main floor retail?

I saw the signs as well, my thought is that they wanted some signage during Stampede to get more eyes on the site. Although it does make sense that focus would be shifting with the Waterfront project winding down.

    Calgary | 19+2 | 16m | 5s | EC Living | FAAS Architecture

What's the problem? Once you get west of 14th hillhurst lacks life, it's boring with the exception of 19th which is on the brink of being a decent retail strip. I mean aren't people shelling out big money for small homes to be near amenities, doesn't this project add to that? Change will happen...

Nice work strategic! I was in marda loop the other day and this building looks like it's been there forever, in a good way. I'm a little jelly of how much that area is developing.

Dang, too bad this project would have been great for that spot. Man Moda keeps getting the shaft. So many great awesome proposals that get put on hold.
