Toronto Reference Library Renovation (Moriyama + Teshima)

I was just thinking that! Oh no, wait a minute, I wasn't thinking that at all.

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Chorley Park should have been preserved as a World Historical Site; it was where Cinderella lived before she moved to Orlando, FL.

180-190 Webb Dr (MCC, Baif Developments Ltd, 18+5s+Towns, Kirkor)

No retail is mentioned in the zoning amendment proposal, which doesn't surprise me as it would be par for the course at MCC.

I was thinking it would be cool if all the white fritted glass was backlit with white LEDs. Not too bright, but just a soft glow. On the other hand, it's easy to go over the top with that kind of thing. In the interest of good taste it's probably best to keep these kind of enhancements very minimal.

Is this one of those "it's so bad it's actually good" situations?

That's the thing that bothers me about both the YWCA and the AGO. The color of the finish is too close to the color of Blueskin vapor barrier. As a result, both of those buildings always look unfinished to me. Sick Kids glazing is my favorite in the city right now.

Which is ironic since an above ground parking lot is exactly what was there before.

Back in 1978 as a young boy, I had to bail after 20 minutes of the Star Wars Holiday Special. It was definitely the right decision!

^^in much the same way as you can walk out of a really bad movie after suffering through the first 20 minutes of it. There comes a point where it becomes clear that it won't get any better.

Now that the hoarding is down, I think I recognize the style of the podium at ground level: "High Loading Dock."

I don't know, look at the way it joins currently with the curtain wall of the podium. There's no modulation at all. It's just curtain wall and then, suddenly, at a certain vertical point they just start slapping a whole bunch of cheap mullions all over the place. No consideration spent at all...

Compared to Aura, Trump Tower looks like the work of Vetruvius.

It just occurred to me; I know what this project really needs to perfect its unique aesthetic. DUCT TAPE!!! And lots of it!
