TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The 10,11,13,34, and 36 run in mixed trafffic, and converge to run in the tunnel. There's two lines in the suburbs that are considered Light Rail, but I didn't get to ride them. I had a weekly pass, but when I researching fares, I did see that transfers cost $1.00. I had to pay and extra...

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I liked them. SEPTA has 3 types - single ended, doubled end cars built by Kawaski, and rebuilt PCC's (called PCC II). The Kawasakis look to be in really good shape for cars built in the 1980's. The highlight for me was the streetcar tunnel that runs under Market St to City Hall. The tunnel is a...

Yep. I live really close to Spadina. I can walk there early Sunday morning.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

Washington DC streetcars used in-street conduits to house the wire because Congress banned overhead wires in Downtown Washington in 1893. Nothing to do with the climate. The streetcar companies didn't want to invest in the extra cost of digging conduits for the wires, but had no choice.

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

Oh, he's right. That area before subway construction was a pedestrian nightmare, it's far worse now. Hauling large objects from the IKEA to the subway is asking to be hit by some asshole driver or a truck.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The Combino fiasco comes to mind. As great as Presto may be ... it's not really useful when riding TTC until it's everywhere. It will simply cut down on token usage as it's rolled out.

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

The exterior design is great. The interior is overkill for a heavy duty LRV. Those would need extensive modification inside to be viable on our streets.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Why do only trips from downtown matter? The western leg of the Eglinton line can be beneficial for Airport workers and residents who live along Eglinton Ave. Not every airport user/worker lives downtown. The western leg will be a useful part of the network.

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

The only area with "good" transit access in Ward 2 is near Woodbine Centre with access to GO bus and the 191 Rocket Bus. Other than that, you have hte Martin Grove, Kipling and Islington buses. It's an area, I wouldnt want to rely on transit to get around.

Visited Montreal for the first time. Some questions about their Metro system

I rode the Yellow Line on a Sunday morning, and it was really busy. The line needs to be extended further into Longueuil.

Visited Montreal for the first time. Some questions about their Metro system

The cross platform transfers at Snowdon and Lionel Groulx work well enough, can be confusing for new riders. Don't like the transfer at Jean Talon, and the transfer to Line 4 at Berri UQAM is abysmal. I found transfers between bus and metro to be really inconvenient at many metro stations...

The Hard Truths About Public Transit

Looking at that map, areas with high transit use and high commute times are also areas where transit service isn't that great.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

We get it! You don't like LRT. Can you keep your irrational and misinformed hatred of LRT out of the GO thread? I would love to see GO fares be close to the fares of the TTC in the 416 and then increase the further a rider travels in the 905. GO electrification is going to add lots of...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

GO electrification is a no-brainer. It's overdue, and it'll benefit the region. My big issue is Union Station. Can Union handle the increased capacity?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I don't use PRESTO often, so I'm not going to set up autoload. And I've heard issues about autoload anyways.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Forgetting to tap off and being charged a full fare blows too.

It's more likely that it's better to transition from tunnel to surface in that area. East of Brentcliffe, eglinton dips into the Don Valley.

Awesome. Eglinton is a good corridor for medium density development.
