    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

So developments proposed for both sides of 10th ave at 14th? That's great, the area could really use it.

What are people's thoughts on the chances of the green line getting built? When I first heard about the Green Line funding change it was only a delay in the funding, but now the talk is about Bill 20 and the government being able to renege on their funding deal.

    Calgary Then and Now

What I noticed most about th9is was the change of color from predominately brown/beige to a mix of light green/blue/gray and brown/beige.

Unfortunately TODs weren't on the mind of planners when they first built the LRT lines. Most were run in ways that were the most economical - down the middle of Crowchild or Memorial, or along the CP tracks. In many cases the success of the TOD is limited from the get go, but still doable.. You...

I don't think you can compare the FCP reclad with this one. FCP was fortunate that they could use a different cheaper material that looked virtually the same. If they had used panels of one color it would look like crap., no better than this other crappy pixelated version. If they used metal...

This has topped out (sorry no photo). It’s still covered in white tarp from top to bottom.

I'm tiring of charcoal and gray paneling, but I like this better than the earlier rendering. Thanks for sharing, and welcome to SRC, Ducklightning.

    General Construction Updates

Question for the experts. Is easy trim also the type of material used in the panels or just the trim system itself? I don't know what material it is, but on the lime green colored affordable housing project behind Tim's on 16th, the panels are turning to shit after only 3 years.

I like the new design more as well. The original design reminds me of that build on Centre Street and about 14th ave. Probably the same architect.

I was once told the closer you are to the tracks the better if you’re high up. I used to have a friend that lived in Mount Royal House Apartments right by Bromley and right beside the train tracks. She was on the 29th floor, and I don’t remember much noise. Might be different if she was on the...

    Calgary Retail Thread

I saw a fair amount of cars at that New Horizon Mall and stopped in to see what's happening. Much to my surprise there were quite a few stores, and quite a few people. Still quiet, but not the ghost town it was.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Thanks for posting @UrbanWarrior . It's no Library, or Studio Bell, but it looks good. Such a shame that Bow Trail rans past it, it would be so nice to have the a section of Riverwalk in front of it instead.

    Calgary | Kingsland Junction | 19.51m | 6s | Trico Homes

It's a step in the right direction, but I don't see it making a difference. Walking along side Macleod Trail is horrible for cyclists and pedestrians even with wider sidewalks. There are too many entrances in and out of parking lots. The city would be better to look at something going through...

    Calgary | Kingsland Junction | 19.51m | 6s | Trico Homes

Nothing short of a massive and expensive overhaul can fix Macleod Trail. At this point we can build up areas around the train stations, but it's a write off from an urban corridor point of view. Fairmont and Elbow aren't much better, though Elbow has limited potential. A good way to salvage the...
