    Rob Ford's Toronto

Robbie martyring himself to keep a Ford in the Mayor's chair sounds completely plausible to me.

Not Kimmel -- the Late o'clock News, a Canadian thing that comes on between The Daily Show and Kimmel. They did a bit with Morgan Baskin a few weeks ago too.

But Doug's premise is that she is. (Unless he has retracted that claim and I missed it.)

And perhaps, has she or any member of her family experienced discrimination as a result of her [alleged] Jewish identity? Did she object to Rob's slurs? Has Doug ever objected to Rob's slurs as offensive to his wife?

The exam they use now tells us nothing about the exam when John Tory took it, which must have been at least 40 years ago.

John Tory graduated from UTS, not UCC.

The "Robbie's Turn' story was in the Toronto Life profile quite a while before Crazytown. And although it doesn't'really suggest that Tory was on intimate terms with the Ford family, I can't believe Jim Flaherty didn't know how unfit Robbie was.

Thank you for this. Completely agree.

Anything that merely makes the Fords look bad likely won't sway their base other than to make the support more intense. It would have to be something (if there is such a thing) that would render their presence on the ballot void. I think the only thing we have discussed so far that would do that...

Iola was getting thrown out of the debate at about the same time as the letter was being talked about, so I guess the craziness got conflated (like in all the best urban legends -- the story adheres to the most current and famous practitioner of the art). I like the part where the letter-writer...

Didn't Robbie also testify that he didn't think he needed to read the handbook because his father had been an MPP?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I was surprised by the suggestion that Rob doesn't care whether he is liked. I think I have always imagined that he doesn't care whether I and my ilk like him, because sticking his thumb in my eye makes Ford Nation love him more. But wouldn't he be sad if he didn't have the devotion of his devotees?

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Mayoral Race

Bizarrely and unbelievably, one of them claimed that she had never voted for Rob Ford and had not been considering voting for him this time but after seeing how the family had pulled together and treated each other she was now convinced to vote for Doug. I can't even begin to comprehend how that...

I'm sure they would have called him weeks and months ago and he is only now getting around to returning those calls.

Well, he has one definition of COI -- campaign contributor gets a favour from councillor. But his own actions in soliciting donations for his foundation from lobbyists, or enlisting city resources for his own personal use or Deco use, that's apparently too complex for him to follow.

He has had his appendix out, so maybe any scars would seem to be attributable to that.

The pain medication is probably providing some relief at the moment. I remember how offended my brother was when he went to the hospital for kidney stones (in agonizing pain) and they treated him as if he was trying to scam them into giving him morphine.

I don't see "understands conflict of interest" anywhere in your list. To me that is more important in a Mayor than how fat s/he is. Unless -- do you think that he does understand conflict of interest already and just plays dumb in order to get away with it?

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I heard only the clip they played on the CBC radio hourly news, but if I understood him correctly the best part of extending the subway will be the increase in property values . . . which I would think might be less appealing to renters. Respect for the taxpayer, indeed.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I agree. Fewer people think there is any point in having him resign now. I wonder what result they would get if the question was how many people think he should take his name off of the ballot? Why bother telling them to roll on the grass if it wasn't disgusting? Rolling on clean grass would...
