    LRT Expansion Planning

Um… I’m not sure if this is the right time to be nit-picky, but it’s “forum”, not “form”. 🤪

    Edmonton | 105 Avenue (Columbia Avenue) Streetscape | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

When I was walking through this pocket park a few days ago there was a contractor pressure washing all the sidewalks, watering the trees, and adding some new mulch. Maybe it’s still in its warranty phase? 🤷‍♂️

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

Could it be that this is an older streetlight that will be removed before construction wraps up? It seems extremely odd to me.

50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

75 Street is not as bad as 50th because it’s not near a yard. The trains go through there at faster speeds and do not stop and backup. I think the next crossing in the city that has the longest delays would be the Whitemud Drive service roads east of Gateway since it’s just north of CPKC’s...

    Advanced Skills Centre | ?m | 4s | NAIT

It’s on 118 Ave, so still closer to the NAIT/Blatchford Market station.

50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

82 Ave will extend eastward under the bridge and connect up with the intersection of 84 Ave/46 St.

50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

There wasn’t enough room without demolishing the office buildings or expropriating more land. Personally I think they should have just built a four lane bridge to begin with and be done with it. Not sure why we need six lanes on every arterial road in this city…

50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

Yes, once the northbound overpass opens, they will remove the existing level crossing and build a second overpass for the southbound lanes. The whole project is supposed to be complete in 2026.

50 Street Widening & CP Rail Grade Separation

    This fall, I’m guessing October.

Jasper Avenue New Vision / Imagine Jasper Avenue

Maybe we should have a summer sidewalk program similar to snow clearing in winter. You would be responsible for keeping the boulevard and sidewalk in front of your property clear of litter and swept/washed if needed.

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I’m pretty sure it’s just a lay down site for the place under construction across 116 Street. https://edmonton.skyrisecities.com/forum/threads/10308-116-street-m-s-leston-holdings-arc-studio.31965/

    Miscellaneous

This is the kind of TOD we need more of. A six-storey building being built on what was once two lots a block from Strathearn Station. 😍

    Roads to Avoid

The LRT on 111 Street is a blessing and a curse. If you time it right, and you’re running next to a train, you’ll get all green lights.

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I believe there are lots on Alpha Blvd that are intended for mixed use. Hopefully we start to see a little “Main Street” develop.

    Miscellaneous

We’ve delivered a bunch of rails and ties to their site recently (I work for CPKC). They’re definitely getting ready to build a rail yard. Not sure what else is planned for the site.

    Edmonton - Red Deer - Calgary Hyperloop | ?m | ?s | Transpod

Also please remember the Dayliner existed at a time when the corridor was not as populous, people were more car crazy, and had little appetite for anything other than suburban living. Also the Dayliner service itself left a lot to be desired, mainly in frequency and reliability. Saying it didn’t...

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

They expanded the road network out toward the LRT line this fall. I imagine builders will start building out that way soon.

    Commuter & Regional Rail

Actually you can, and many places do mix HSR with regular passenger traffic. The important part is having services in place so a modal shift can start to happen. There are tons of examples of 200km/h trains using the same tracks as 120-160 km/h trains. I’m still not convinced that Alberta will...
