    Edmonton | 105 Avenue (Columbia Avenue) Streetscape | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Not quite. The section between 109 and 112 is pretty much complete except for the new streetlights. The section between 112 and 113 hasn’t really been touched (they did underground utilities this year and will be building the plaza next year). Between 113 and 116, the south half of the road is...

Look at all that prime land begging for a terminus train station servicing commuter, regional, and intercity routes!

    Edmonton | Alberta ENT Commercial/Retail | ?m | 2s

The problem is that developments that try to do that will have entrances on both sides of the building, and the tenants will invariably lock the street facing entrance in favour of the parking lot “back” entrance.

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

What do you mean it hasn’t worked? VIA has been hampered by infrastructure that is not owned by them, and a government that doesn’t give them enough money. Demand is not the problem. It’s politics and money.

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

I would love to see some evidence to back up this claim. Look anywhere in the world with a decent passenger rail network, and a city pair like Calgary/Edmonton would have dozens, if not hundreds of departures each day between the two. Just because Canada is far behind when it comes to intercity...

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

Wrong. All the routes Edmcowboy suggested are feasible IMO with regular rolling stock, nothing fancy. The Alberta and Canadian governments need to step in and fund reliable and frequent intercity rail. There are no excuses at this point. The population is there. The density is there. You can...

Edmonton City Centre Mall (Renovations) | ?m | 2s | LaSalle Investment Management

Why retain the parkade? It never seems to be well used and it kills the street life. There’s an abundance of parking under ICE District.

Greatest dodged bullet of a project

My big dream is to make that the spot of our Central intercity train station, with tunnels connecting to CN’s lines to the north, and a line south over a reinforced HLB (or a replacement). I would love to see it incorporate some mixed use towers. They would be highly desirable. Go downstairs and...

Also that garbage can is in an odd place right in front of the bench. Not a very inviting place to sit.

In the article it says Station Lands is Edmonton’s only master-planned community. How can they say that? What about Century Park or Blatchford or any greenfield community? 😂

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

Yes, but that’s a generalization. The speed zone was definitely moved last year, and those same signs are just covered up at the moment while the construction zone is in effect. I recall them talking about the speed being consistent as well, but that was more for the sections through the city...

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

I don’t think so. They moved the eastbound 100 km/h speed zone closer to 50th last year. And those signs are just covered up while the temporary speed limit is in place. Again, I think the 80 is for permanent sign installation, although I never see any signs of progress.

    Yellowhead Trail Upgrades

They still have to install the permanent signage as well.

EllisDon to Lead Prairie Link High-Speed Rail Partners - Edm-RD-Cal

They’re proposing 2 different services. Commuter rail in both cities would subsidize the high speed rail. The HSR trains wouldn’t stop at 34 Ave or Airdrie.

Look back at how they phased and built the parkades for Fox 1 and 2. I imagine this will be a similar process.
