The problem is that developments that try to do that will have entrances on both sides of the building, and the tenants will invariably lock the street facing entrance in favour of the parking lot “back” entrance.

What do you mean it hasn’t worked? VIA has been hampered by infrastructure that is not owned by them, and a government that doesn’t give them enough money. Demand is not the problem. It’s politics and money.

Yes, but that’s a generalization. The speed zone was definitely moved last year, and those same signs are just covered up at the moment while the construction zone is in effect. I recall them talking about the speed being consistent as well, but that was more for the sections through the city...

I don’t think so. They moved the eastbound 100 km/h speed zone closer to 50th last year. And those signs are just covered up while the temporary speed limit is in place. Again, I think the 80 is for permanent sign installation, although I never see any signs of progress.

They still have to install the permanent signage as well.

They’re proposing 2 different services. Commuter rail in both cities would subsidize the high speed rail. The HSR trains wouldn’t stop at 34 Ave or Airdrie.
