When the Windsor Arms Hotel on Thomas Street was modified for a condo, the developer said that it was too difficult to work with the existing building, so it was dismantled. What you see today is a facsimile (albeit using salvaged material) of the hotel. There are other examples. The old house...

A sales person told this ironically the day the office opened to the public.

Province Of Ontario Planning 39 Storey Office Tower For 880 Bay Street

Yuck. Good thing it's on Bay Street, a write-off already! It just strikes me as a hodge podge, lacking grace or imagination. Bleah!

from www.truecondos.com/posthouse I wonder if 3 stories have been lopped off?

Fantastic Night Time Panorama From Casa Condos To X The Condominium

I wish the Grace Hospital would similarly sell their parking lot at the corner of Bloor and Church Sts. In return, they too could replace their current building from the 1950's.

Two pieces of heavy equipment are now on site (parked on the ramp near the gas station). Looks like demolition of the parking structure is about to start. Two sales staff at the office told me that excavation is underway. Finally! I think this building will be a nice addition to the...

View from west Note the strange pyramid contraption. For a topping-off ceremony, window washing rig, or to help remove the crane? (No notices have been posted in the area for imminent traffic closures). Anyone seen something like this before to solve the mystery?

I recently got an Ideapad S12 and like it.

Energy efficiency I think a rule of thumb is that LEED buildings use 35 % less energy to heat. Apart from the obvious environmental advantage, condo owners will save money. Two developers stand out for doing the right thing (even though they could probably produce cheaper buildings which...

Nice! I especially like the 3D view and how you can move it around.

    Glass buildings and window coverings.

I think some condos state that window coverings or drapes must be white coloured viewed from the outside, written into the purchase agreement. I wonder if they also have balcony anti-clutter rules. :)

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

A film about graffitti in New York City showed how protecting a subway yard with multiple coils of barbed wire (i.e. "triple concertina") effectively kept out vandals accustomed to easy access when vehicles were out of service over night.

What bugs me most is that stupid intersection which treats pedestrians so miserably. Where else in the whole city do you have to detour through 4 separate walk lights, just to get across one side (e.g., between the Rogers bldg and the southwest corner of Charles E and Jarvis)?

City orders condo developers to buy annual metropass for every unit

Good idea! Those who would otherwise buy a metro pass get a break. Those who own cars have an incentive to drive less. And the remainder who walk or cycle have the option to take transit more frequently.

Beer Store needs a Lifetime Achievement Award

Reminds me of the one on Church Street, with its underused parking lot in front.
