    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

how do you know these details? what about the future lane on Armour Boulevard that is currently in "study" stage?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

What’s an example? Do the different users have dedicated space or they share the same space?

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

I contacted Councillor Pasternak’s office regarding the upcoming installation of bike lanes on Bathurst from Earl Bales park to Steeles. it is planned to be a multi-use trail and it is scheduled to be installed sometime between later on this year and next year. I don’t understand the “multi...

would this cycling infrastructure be physically separated ("cycle track") or a painted lines/diamonds ("bike lanes")

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

the sidewalks were just re-done last year. why doesn't the city install a cheap physical barrier (like concrete blocks) so that pedestrians can use that space? or a nicer barrier like flower boxes to beautify the space and allow pedestrians to use it? right now it's just dead space, but I agree...

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

On Bathurst Street south of the 401, the city painted a white line to separate traffic from the sidewalk. It’s not a bike lane though. Besides creating a buffer between pedestrians and cars, what’s the use of this mini-lane?

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

Crossing guards at signalized intersections. We are paying an expensive, possibly unionized city worker to help people cross because the intersection is not designed safely? Am I missing something here? And what does it say about the off peak hours where there is no crossing guard?

how are the at-grade sections different? can regular maintenance also long-term shut down the line?

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

you guys aren't reading the facts on it. doesn't have to do with tracks

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

dont think it has to do with track replacement. has to do with water main lines and overhead wire

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I read that part of the St. Clair streetcar ROW will be closed for maintenance projects. Streetcars will be replaced with buses that will run on the street. Sounds like a disaster. Could this conceivably also happen to the Crosstown (assuming one day it opens)?

    Lack of traffic rule enforcement

anecdotally, it feels like enforcement of traffic rule violations in TO is lacking. for people who follow this sort of thing closely, is there any evidence to support this?

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The costs and completion time are likely much higher in a built up urban area, but to your point the benefits are much higher as well

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Does anyone know where to get information about the highway 401 expansion project in Eastern Ontario? A quick google search only returns articles from the 2022 budget.

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

The tree on the island in the pond hasn’t started to leaf out yet. Can’t get close enough to see if it’s budding. Is it dead?

    Multiplexes

I read that the motion council passed eliminates density requirements for 4 unit multiplexes. Does this mean someone can tear down their single family detached home and build a low rise (10 meters high) structure with 4 units that takes up 100% of the footprint of the property?

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

in a city as busy as Toronto, dedicated turn signals seems like the way to do. no turn signals seems appropriate in rural or other low volume areas

Road Safety & Vision Zero Plan

I think this comes down to where a driver was trained (formally or informally). in places with more advanced signalization, I don't think drivers are accustomed to waiting in the middle of an intersection. some cities also explicitly have signs saying not to block intersections.
