This is going to be a gem. Truly outrageous. The top 10% of the building is where most of the design drama is. It's only going to get better over the next couple of months.

I agree with Tulse. I happen to like Manulife Centre and the Sheraton Centre. And I love Robarts. In fact, I'm pretty sure Robarts is from the future. But Sutton Place doesn't do much for me. That said, neither does the redesign. I feel like there's a better design possible.

It's amazing to me that this location wouldn't be considered a great retail site just because it doesn't front onto Yonge. What's more, if Yonge frontage is so coveted, why are there so many poor quality stores on Yonge?

Does anyone know how they are going to finish the underside of the awning? I have the same question about Trump.

I was just thinking the same thing today. It would be great to see a mockup (if that's even possible yet) to see how they would all fit together. That's a hell of a lot of towers. I also heard from a guy at the TTC that they're looking at redeveloping the northeast corner of Yonge and Bloor and...

True. We are so jaded now.

Still trying to decide whether I like this one. My biggest problem is that I feel it's trying too hard. "Hey! Look at me! I'm different!" Like goth kids with nose rings and blue nail polish.

While I understand the frustration over the box thing, I really like the BA West tower, and I think it might work well with a similar one right beside it. It was mentioned above that the glass is nice. It is -- and apparently it's a very comfortable building to work in. Let's not forget that the...

There's nothing inherently wrong with a tall building that steps back as it goes up. Perhaps too many badly executed stepbacks have soured us on the whole concept, but I think it can be done well. I'm one of the people who actually likes this building. Its ultimate success will depend greatly...

91 King Street East (Albany Club, 25s, WZMH Architects)

This debate is just getting started. The whole neighbourhood within a couple of major blocks east of Yonge is beginning to be redeveloped. The challenge is that this is generally a mid-rise neighbourhood but since it's right smack downtown, the new development proposals are generally quite tall...

If that's true, it basically is a let 'em burn approach.

Where did the rumours of just one tower come from? That's the second time I've heard that, but no source has been given. I really liked the renderings that came out a while ago for the two towers, but also heard that there was some opposition to the height of the proposal from the Pilot bar and...

How does the fire department get to, say, the 60th floor of a condo? Surely there's no ladder that high. Perhaps it's just a "let 'em burn" approach. Kidding -- but seriously, does anyone know?

This doesn't make sense to me. Goes nowhere quickly? It arguably has more development happening than any other city in North America.

The Toronto Financial Services Alliance (the other TFSA) was trying at one point to establish a global Risk Management Institute in Toronto, because Canadian financial institutions are considered among the best in the world at risk management. This would be a huge boon for the city and would...

Not entirely true. Yes, in general, but in the case of Toronto tall buildings add a) increased vibrancy because of the added people and, b) exciting architecture.

Love the design and happy that more development is happening down here. What concerns me is that there's still no good public transit option servicing it.

This thing is absolutely massive up close. The footprint is huge. I think it will be a great addition once it's done and it's going to completely change the area. It is a little disappointing that the retail is going to be full of big chains. I guess this is the way of the world today, but...
