GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I'm willing to bet that GO is trying to give themselves more hours in the day to work on the diamond. At the rate of 1 or 2 piles a day, I don't think GO could fulfill their plan to ramp up service in 2015.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I agree, the midday Bramalea-only trains are horrible. I take the bus to Yorkdale whenever possible.

    Brampton: Mt. Pleasant Mobility Hub

I hope and pray the person you talked to at GO just didn't know what was going on behind the scenes. Unfortunately, she was probably right that there will be no increases in service. But I think she made up the bit about the demand. I've seen mid-day Lakeshore trains that are practically...

    GO Train Fares To Increase

Agreed. But in practice, I don't know how much success GO can have promoting local transit when local transit is terrible. Durham region, for example, has probably the worst public transit system I've ever experienced in my life. Rush hour buses are okay, but if your non-peak GO train arrives...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The laying of asphalt commenced at the new Mount Pleasant parking lot today. I guess it should be open pretty soon.

Brampton GO Station: Proposed Development (if you hate GO surface lots...)

Ohh, this makes me happy. I never thought I'd say this, but I am actually excited about the future of Brampton.

    Netbooks: Yey or Ney?

I got an eeepc as soon as it came out. It's slightly more powerful than a wristwatch, but it serves its purpose.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I have a question about extending the Bramalea trains: Wouldn't GO need to run more trains to do that? I believe that right now they're just using one train for the mid-day Bramalea service, although I could be wrong--please tell me if I am. If that service extended to Brampton or Mount...

Metrolinx buys Toronto-Barrie CN rail line

Personally, I would like to know more about the actual benefits of buying a line. I was told by a CN employee that the "freight has priority" stance can only change so much. He cited the long stopping distance of freight trains as one of the reasons for this.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Crews have been working on the site for several months. I have a picture, but it's from April. Judging from what I can see from the train, the building crews are currently doing a lot of work on the project.

    Anti Public Transit article....

Good public transit makes things easier for cars. Imagine the QEW in a world without Lakeshore GO. I, too, love both public transit and my car.

wellesley & sherbourne area...how is it

I'm moving to the Wellesley & Sherbourne area in a few months, so I read this thread with great interest. I'm in the "you're fine if you're not engaging in illegal activities" camp. I lived in Rexdale during the "summer of the gun" or whatever they called it, and not a darn thing happened to me.

    GO Schedule Anomoly?

Could you leave from Mount Pleasant in the morning? Those evening express buses to Mount Pleasant are absolutely wonderful. I don't think those buses could stop in Brampton. They're packed already. Personally, I've wondered why they don't run a separate Brampton express bus from Union. I...

    Anti Public Transit article....

    What a silly article.

Varsity Arena at U of T

Those are cool shots, even if they do remind me of a brutal Geology exam I wrote a few years ago.

Halton-Peel Freeway (MTO/Region of Peel, Proposal)

I hope it's soon, but I read this on Steve Munro's blog: I read that to mean "no additional trips until 2015," but I could be (and hope I am) misinterpreting it.
