    Edmonton | Hat at Five Corners | ?m | 24s | Cidex Group

The top floors look gross, like they're from a segment of a completely different building that's been glued on top of this tower. Very disappointing, especially given this tower's conspicuous location and its potential to have otherwise spurred development in the Quarters.

Looking nice and tall at that corner. Me likey ?

    Unbuilt Projects

I started working from home yesterday but I'll snap one and post it once I've returned to the office.

^ "For safety", probably. I'm still dubious about this "concrete mass" - nobody knows where it came from or how it got there - allegedly. Wouldn't the citizens of this city notice if somebody poured a car-sized slab of concrete into the river at some point in history? TransEd is treating that...

    Edmonton | ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

I like your list, and I agree. Despite being termed "a winter city", Edmonton is far easier for visitors to digest in the summer months. My Nashville friends were here for six days in July, and we ran out of time to do/see everything I wanted to. Our biggest takeaway from that visit was that we...

Thanks Dave. I recall reading this article from when the vote passed; I must've forgotten though, especially since Minneapolis got all the glory (read: media coverage). Typical Edmonton - quietly making changes behind the scenes rather than jumping up and down and waving arms on the world stage...

I just want that gap in the skyline to be filled. Let's replace it with a much better tower that will actually be constructed. :D

    Edmonton | Polykar Production Facility | ?m | 3s | Polykar Industries | FarMor Architecture

Thanks! Now we just have to get the word to Polykar and to city council somehow. Perhaps council could incentivize Polykar to diversify into this field by offering some kind of conditional tax break for coming to Edmonton (the same way the City had for Dell when they opened a call centre here in...

    Edmonton | Polykar Production Facility | ?m | 3s | Polykar Industries | FarMor Architecture

The recent Apollo Masters fire in California spells a great opportunity for petrochemical companies like Polykar to diversify their offerings. How cool would it be if the new Edmonton facility became the leading supplier of blank lacquers for vinyl record mastering in North America...

    Edmonton | Kathleen Andrews Transit Garage | ?m | 2s | City of Edmonton | gh3

Well, random and irregular dents they may be. Either way, the city should at least acknowledge the problem as you say, whether intentional or otherwise. Incidentally, I love the way this siding captures ambient light, especially at twilight. It's turned my head more than a few times already...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Yeah, exactly. It's as if ETS said "to hell with the original four stations and anybody who tries to commute there, they're not important anymore!!! On to newer and flashier stations!"

    Edmonton | Kathleen Andrews Transit Garage | ?m | 2s | City of Edmonton | gh3

Are we sure there isn't supposed to be variations in the siding panels of this building? It's visually apparent, sure, but does it really look bad? I think it adds visual interest, but that's just me.

    Edmonton | ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

Does anybody know if Tower BG and the Baccarat site are now considered part of Phase 2, or will they become Phase 2 and the Phase Formerly Known As Two will become Phase 3? Perhaps we'll know more after April 7.

    Edmonton | ICE District Phase 2 | 149.95m | ?s | ICE District Prop.

This is brilliant. When will someone present this to city council as a solution to Edmonton's own sprawl problem? And so what if single-family developers take their business to bedroom communities, or to other cities entirely? We need to look out for our #1, our Edmonton. We need to fill our...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Thanks. It appears I misunderstood him. One train per direction makes sense; I was angry at the thought of one train in one direction only.

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Really? You guys have the same probs with your subway? That makes me feel a little better. Riding the Canada Line when I was in Vancouver for a work trip last September made me very sad for Edmonton, however. No silly "proof of payment" system. Trains ran on time. Transit was efficient, easy...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

It's not obvious, but @darwink provided a reasonable explanation. TransEd is referring to having only a single train going in one direction at a time, unless I misunderstood their spokesman in the video. Why bother digging two tunnels if they're only planning to have unidirectional travel one...
