At the ticket machine concourse. Everyone past the "gates" has to be in possession of a validated fare.

The blog post says they'll lay track during this time. Honestly not a bad idea with no through traffic and residents can access 102 Ave or 107 Ave.

I signed my kids up for the Youth/Student Arc Card pilot happening this summer. Chance for them to win 1 of 5 iPads is nice.

I typically see 40 years for passenger rail cars with a mid-life refurbishment. 50 years is a little long but they're still running ok. Weren't they only refurbished about 15 years ago?

Are those piers a little beefier than the SE piers?

Hm look like they did the same thing in Vancouver. Repositioning the gantry may not be a huge deal. There's a gap from 1:49 to to the 2:20 mark when Skytrain briefly goes down to at grade below the BCTV transmission satelites.

While I'm happy to see they've gone with a gantry and precast segments, it's weird they've erected the gantry part way through the elevated section, and looks like short of West Edmonton Mall Station. I would have started it off at Misericordia and had the viaduct built all the way to Aldergrove...

Cycling and Active Transportation in Edmonton

I assume car lanes does not mean roads ie. 1 km of road with two lanes in each direction is 4 km of car lanes. I wonder if we need to rethink where cyclists are supposed to ride. Children should be on sidewalks but they can sometimes go fast enough to pose a hazard to pedestrians. Adults riding...

Canada Line was also full P3. The Evergreen Extension of the Millennium Line completed in 2016 was a P3 but I think it may have only covered design build finance as it was integrated into an existing system where they owned their own rolling stock and maintenance equipment and facilities, that...

Barely noticeable honestly. The cable trays and walkways hanging off the side of Skytrain guideways are uglier but even then it just seems to disappear.

I agree, it's sadly the norm for women to bear the responsibility of kids/house which in itself is practically a full time job, despite also being a modern woman having a full time job. That's the sexist part.

While they encourage you to tap off, in reality the compensation fare for most buses within the city is $2.75. The compensation fare is only higher on bus routes that have local and commuter fare options ie. buses that go to/from the suburbs. And I'm 90% certain the compensation fares count...

With about 3/4 of the crowd going southbound after games, it will work much better for sure. Who knows what the holdup is at this point.

We can only hope Arc gets this popular. Translink released 3000 adult and 2000 concession Compass keychains for $6. The headlights on the train light up when tapped. I waited 2 hours to snag one. The lineup circled Waterfront Station 3 times. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get one.

Yes, there's an Arc machine right at the airport. Perhaps someone can snap a photo of it next time they're there. All that's missing is an LRT station, or at the very least the proposed direct bus connection downtown.

I had a post pilot program interview with City of Edmonton yesterday. I relayed some of the concerns on this thread particularly in regards to visitors to the city, in addition to my mostly positive experiences in the Arc Card pilot program.

Look for the orange vests of Arc outreach team members giving complimentary Arc cards out at the following transit stations: Eaux Claires, Clareview & Westmount from 11-3 p.m. & at West Edmonton Mall, Century Park & Mill Woods from 1-7 p.m. (while quantities last)
