Presumably the space could be divided with some sort of steel mezzanine, yes? The renders linked in the header don't make it look as if the protruding "first" floor overlooking Yonge is a concrete slab like the others above it. I don't see why this couldn't have been the plan from the beginning.

    Toronto Toronto | Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

The Queen station is not "already there". The roughed-in streetcar stop would be totally inadequate, even if the space hadn't already been partially reclaimed for things like ventilation equipment and elevators. Do you even know if the platform is long enough? Would a mid-century "station"...

TTC: Why was the upper half of the University Portion of the YUS line never relocated

It leaves Danforth and serves Crescent Town but I'm not sure it leaves to serve Crescent Town. The station was built a year or two before the buildings IIRC. They could have had the subsequent development plans in mind, but then I think there were also supposed to be towers south of Danforth as...

    TTC: Customer Service

The TTC wouldn't do that because it's not about the ridership for them, it's about the window for repairs.

Neptis' Review of Metrolinx's Big Move

If the second-last track is removed, what track would the freight trains use? I thought that they used the southernmost track when travelling through the corridor at present. If there is a high-level platform 28/29 then there might not be enough clearance for cargo.

This is a good idea, and I always figured that's why the parking lot had endured for so long. I do wonder about the SCJ civil courts. You would think that if they consolidated them they'd want a location near Osgoode Hall, but what other sites are left? That little house behind City Hall?

    TTC: Redesigning TTC Signage

Paris does this as well. I found it a bit confusing at the time, but it makes sense when you have branching routes.

    GTHA Transit Fare Integration

They're a bit inconsistent. The original and previous tiles/panels at St. Andrew had periods but the latest panels don't. St. George and St. Patrick have Periods but St. Clair (which has more recent tiles) doesn't. The trend seems to be to drop the periods. Looks more British than Canadian to me.

    Toronto Toronto | Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Wasn't the point of that thread that the homes were already there? Here there was a chance to build something more dense. Very different.

    Mississauga Toronto | Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

There are parts of Queen Street East and Kingston Road that feature houses, or did at the time they were built. Danforth still has a few houses on it, and would have had more at the time the streetcar was running (similarly with older routs like Dupont). I don't really see the difference...

Hopefully it won't be as boring as the rest of the renovations.

I just don't understand the heritage complaint. Is it the poles? The wires? Have these people ever been to downtown Toronto? I don't understand how ripping up the tracks along Queen West would be more sensitive to our "heritage".

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

It's not just 501 Queen. 502 and 503 are technically POP while on Queen, according to the linked website. I take the 502 reasonably often. I can't remember ever taking a transfer, or even having one foisted on me by a driver (apart from planned short-turns at Queen or Connaught).

TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

I've never seen this. I take the 501 sometimes, pay by token, and don't take a transfer. Am I supposed to? I'm not the only person that doesn't take one.

    Toronto Toronto | Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

Would a court, or an administrative tribunal (e.g. the OMB) find it "Objectively Extraordinary" on review? How would you or the city's lawyers prove that? The solution to that sort of dilemma is you give someone a fair amount of discretion to make that decision, but that kind of power is open to...

    Toronto Toronto | Forma | 308m | 84s | Great Gulf | Gehry Partners

It is not "almost like" that. The accent thing invokes race, nationality, and class (and one's assuming certain people are uneducated). Spelling has more to do with actual education, and whether you are actually familiar with the concept you are invoking. I don't think adma's response was...

    Toronto Toronto | Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

Not necessarily. I am not an expert but I do not believe that you need to meet a language requirement if you are coming to Canada by virtue of your (Canadian resident) spouse's sponsorship.

    Toronto Toronto | Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

London does close stations sometimes (e.g. Victoria, Oxford Circus) but it also has peak pricing. The alternative if you have less money is to take the bus, which is always cheaper than the tube. That wouldn't really work with our more integrated system.
