It's almost a generalization. Japan has its share of issues and is not perfect. But hey, you as a tax payer can very much use your power and vote for your mayor/city counsellor. Not sure what else you want. We don't live in a perfect world.

Well, lets see what's going on with bigger projects in Canada: LRT line in Eglinton pushed by 2+ years. Construction started in 2011! https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/eglinton-crosstown-lrt-court-decision-1.6031542 LRT in Ottawa delayed by 15 months...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I am honestly impressed how fast this line has been built, taking into account the complexity, a bridge across the river, a tunnel etc. A global pandemic, excuse me. We do not live in China with half a billion labour force and no labour standards. In a few months, we will have the newest, one...

    Edmonton | Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Did anyone bother to read the article? We are having once in a century event, a pandemic, hello? This is a huge project, and the fact it's delayed, due to valid reasons, shouldn't be a surprise.

    Edmonton | Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I honestly don't understand what are you talking about? This city is NOT developing lots!

Jasper Avenue New Vision / Imagine Jasper Avenue

It is always a matter of priorities. There will never be enough money. But, I would think that the city's main avenue would rank high on that list of priorities. Especially, since it has been left to decay for decades. There is no competition in my ward, and the current counsellor will be...

^ I agree. I am impressed with landscaping efforts along the line. So many varieties of low maintenance for the climate bushes and grasses and no ugly sod.

Hey TAS, Maybe you should read this over again? Because I can't believe we are arguing about this again... https://edmontonjournal.com/news/local-news/the-history-of-the-funding-of-edmontons-lrt

^ Honestly I am not going to give her a favour and try guess on what's is going in her mind. She is in the middle of the campaign and made a very clear statement that she would cancel the project that has already been approved and under-construction. She is not fit to be a mayor of 1.5 million...

    Municipal Politics

I though the majority of Edmontonians support LRT expansion? Why do the candidates think that if they decide to cancel LRT, it would give them a boost in support? Just mind boggling.

So I guess, someone was right when said she was just a Kenney's puppet. Sohi it is then.

Does anyone know who is responsible for this maintenance in the city?

    Federal Politics

Congrats to Edmonton for electing progressive MPs! Edmonton is a progressive city that doesn't blindly vote for anything with a "C" sticker. This system needs to change to give us a more accurate and fair representation.

    Alberta Politics

It may sound exaggerating, but I see it as this UCP government is in pursue of destroying this very reputable institution, that served Edmonton as a catalysis for progressive thinking and potential contributor to the economy diversification and future development. 2023 can't come fast enough.

    Alberta Politics

Well if you show salaries at uofa, then show them for other institutions for comparison . Alberta is a rich province, oil/gas resource based economy. The higher spending/salaries are expected in this environment. Sometimes stupid spending (WAR ROOM). We were able to lure the best of the best by...

U of A is in top 5 best universities in Canada and in 101-150 best universities in the world! It is absolutely logical that the tuition is much higher than in MacEwan. You actually can't compare them. U of A is much more than just a bachelor nursing program.

I honestly hope this is the only tower they build and get out of there. And downtown in general, forever.

This will be another 121 street. A horrible eye sore for decades.
