Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

"We need the Scarb LRT and subway relief line" So...Chow now supports the DRL? Or the BD extension? Or the Scarborough LRT? Or...I'm confused. Still would rather her than Tory though.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

McMaster for sure gets some, but UofT downtown gets big numbers from students in the west end and in Durham.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Oh my goodness let's hope for a positive outcome. For all of the university students heading back to school come September, transpo-armageddon isn't looking like a particularly fun possibility.

    Transit Fantasy Maps

I still personally don't think Eglinton is far enough north to connect to non-core designations. For me, a through-run Sheppard-Finch LRT would be a great solution for the sort of northern crosstown commutes that currently have no other option.

Chow was admittedly pretty far from the mark there, but I swear that nothing pales in comparison to the religious schools plan. Sometimes I wish Tory would look at his record and just stop trying in politics.

I'd rather see "(Street)cars", an adorably animated re-telling of the fight to save Toronto's streetcar system in the 1970s. Hear that Pixar? New moneymaker right here.

My hopes for Chow winning the election rest on Tory Torying himself. THIS IS BUT THE BEGINNING.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

You're right that that is a bizarre speed limit, considering the superb quality of that stretch of track including the concrete ties. Perhaps once GO is REX-ified and electrified the limit can be raised again, since as was noted, sitting in traffic in Ajax and watching a GO train sail past in...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

True, but they're valuable for the future because we should be pushing people from that far out in Metro to use GO rather than the TTC subway for their commutes. That way, we don't spend billions on suburban subway :p I recognize though that that particular point of view is part of a greater...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

I agree. VIA doesn't really need a track of its own and 5 tracks would really be pushing the limits of space in the corridor. I've also been on express GO LSE that has used the centre track. As a daily rider of LSE I can also say to the earlier posts that 80 km/h is definitely not normal for...

    Ontario Liberals and Transit

Good to see it's not just me who thought Del Duca was a dumb choice for the "showcase" transit file. I had my stomach in knots ever since the first rumours Murray was out surfaced. And about York deciding our transit matters: absolutely. As a region built on enormous low density sprawl...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Transit Plans

I don't know how much more Ford I can take until he gets booted out in October. Again, he gets more and more ridiculous. Personally I think that with GO electrification and fare integration, the BD extension will become close to as empty as Sheppard. Would've been far better at this point to...

2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Transit Plans

Tory is just blowing hot air. No doubt if he was elected the province would put his harebrained policies in line pretty quickly.

@globeandmail: Steven Del Duca the man behind Queen’s Park’s $15-billion plan http://t.co/nceepng0w2 From @GlobeToronto Del Duca barely answered a single question in this interview at all. At this rate, I'm missing Glen Murray already.
  15. MrsNesbitt

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Of course everyone there would've wanted a subway, because either A. You get politicians riling up the uninformed public by calling LRT second-class transit, and they don't understand how expensive subway is, B. They're suburban motorists who won't take transit anyway and only care that it gets...

Despite what Ford says The Streetcar in Toronto is here to stay.

Interesting idea, but I personally still like banning cars entirely. Road capacity can be made up for on streets like Richmond/Adelaide, although I suppose Queen may suffer, and Queen is another street that could vie for the title of most worthy to be completely de-vehicle-ed. The more stark...

    Toronto Toronto | Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

I would sign it. Same for VMC -> Vaughan Centre, if it could gain the traction also, though you're right in thinking that Pioneer Village is worse.

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

+1 Also, in case andrewpmk didn't know (because I really don't get what he's trying to talk about) the purpose of an underground section to the SELRT is to enable a cross-platform transfer. That's called convenience in the face of needing to deal with the existing subway, it's called throwing...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I agree with you that Metrolinx needs an overhaul or a shuffling of staff. Likewise on the MTO's lack of understanding of transit - the MTO is comprised of "roads people", to put it simply. They think in terms of the road network and in terms of how transit will affect it. The author's...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

I was reading that article and went like this: "Hmm. #1, agree with...#2, you're on the right track...#3, aaaaaaand we're into right-wing out to lunch territory already." Non-transit-experts who look at transit from a political point of view drive me insane in this city. No more 10-km of...
