Head of Slips (Waterfront Toronto, West 8/DTAH)

Completely agree. While the schemes arent the most elaborate or unique ever made, they are simple and yet beautiful and will mean a massive transformation of the Waterfront for us. And not only that, but if we were to fast forward to the year 2030, when, if executed properly and to plan, the...

Head of Slips (Waterfront Toronto, West 8/DTAH)

I think it would work if you took away two floors, and created some beautiful architectural element to bury the existing (and reinforced) pillars.

    Toronto Toronto | MaRS Centre Phase 2 | 112.77m | 20s | Alexandria | B+H

That would be a shame. The whole point is to be right in the middle of the things, with a large part of that being the hospital network so close by!

    Toronto Toronto | MaRS Centre Phase 2 | 112.77m | 20s | Alexandria | B+H

I really love this project... its tremendous. I hope some of the upcoming kickstart dollars will be available to get this back up and running!

Its still sexy, even without the boot!

    Metrolinx $55 Billion Plan

I havent had a chance to go through the final plan in any detail, so could some one tell me if/when they plan on electrifying the lakeshore west line? I'm also wondering if they will bend and electrify the Pearson-Union link?

    Transit City Plan

So... are any of these lines far enough along in the planning stages to get some of this accelerated cash that should start to flow from the federal coffers soon? I think they need to be very close to the 'shovels in the ground stage' so... would any of the proposed lines be applicable?

    Queens Quay Woonerf

Yup. The Waterfront (Spadina Head of Slip) thread covers some of this material, but completely agree that we should be doing this in more and more places. Of course only where ideal on certain streets, but it is a great concept!

BRT a failure in New Delhi

Agree with 100% of your first statement. But on your second, I think it is relevant. Many people on these forums talk about BRT vs LRT... this is one lesson that should help guide us in our own planning, to avoid these kinds of mistakes. That would be of course if we controlled the decision...

    More Cities Banning Cars

Some of Queen's Quay near Spadina is still like this. Its nice but run down.

"Project of the Decade" eh? Thats a pretty bold statement, but this project is looking nice. Any idea when sales will start? I would be interested in a three bedroom.

Those are some great pics of the bowels of Trump Toronto. Thanks for sharing!

    Roncesvalles Reconstruction

I like it. Reminds me a bit of Europe!

    University Avenue Triangle

Any news or images from the announcement on October 2? I rarely pass this place nowadays, so I cant quite picture it in enough detail.

    Toronto Toronto | L-Tower | 204.82m | 58s | Cityzen | Daniel Libeskind

Its still a nice building, but I thought the plaza portion was the icing on the cake. It would have been beautiful. What a shame...

    Metrolinx $55 Billion Plan

I prefer to keep it closer to 5 - 7%, but 10.3 is still light years better than what the Federal government was doing 14 - 18 years ago. At that time, I recall we had to pay 33 cents on the dollar for debt servicing. Yikes!
  17. I

    Metrolinx $55 Billion Plan

Very good point. We cant go nuts to the point of having billions of dollars of additional debt, unless we can show and implement laws to repay that on a consistent basis, such as what the Dalton McGuinty proposed doing for MoveOntario 2020.

    TTC's Fancy New Technologies Thread

At a cool $10 mill, this should have been done long ago. This is the low hanging fruit that will help improve ridership!
